Mar 1, 2024

Summary

The DCU
Superman
logo has now been revealed.
Fans share mixed reactions to the logo and title change from
Superman: Legacy
.
Criticism has arisen over ending the SnyderVerse and Henry Cavill no longer playing the character.

The reveal of the new Superman logo (on the Man of Steel’s birthday no less) has DC fans taking to social media to share their reactions. Superman, which has also undergone a title change and dropped the Legacy, director James Gunn took to Instagram yesterday to reveal the logo that will be emblazoned across David Corenswet’s chest in the first DCU movie, and a lot of fans love what they see…

Alongside the reveal of the new Superman logo, which takes inspiration from artist Alex Ross’ Kingdom Come, Gunn explained that when he “finished the first draft of the script, I called the film Superman: Legacy. By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was SUPERMAN.”

As well as reacting to the logo, fans have also been sharing their opinion on the title change, with some loving the simplicity while others miss Superman: Legacy.

Amongst all the positivity, there has also been a lot of criticism leveled at the new logo from those both disappointed that the divisive SnyderVerse was brought to an unceremonious end, and that Henry Cavill will no longer sport the red and blue suit of Superman.

While DC and Superman fans continue to debate the new logo, most would no doubt agree that the reveal of the whole suit will be a big moment for James Gunn and his newly recalibrated DCU franchise.

“How can I make it different from the Superman movies that have been made so far, but also have it respect all the Superman movies that have been made so far? So it just took me some time to try to figure it out.”
