Teacups Featured, Reviews Film Threat
Dec 3, 2023
There are unsung heroes in this world. Their stories are often hidden in the remote places in this world and short film has been one of the ways their stories can be told.
Alec Green and Finbar Watson’s animated story, Teacups, tells the story of real-life hero Don Ritchie (voiced by Hugo Weaving). Don lives in his unassuming home along a seashore cliff. The cliff is a frequent location where people commit suicide. Over the decades, Don has engaged in some awkward yet compassionate conversations and saved hundreds of lives with open palms and cups of tea.
“The cliff is a frequent location where people commit suicide.”
Running over seven minutes, Teacups is a poignant and poetic reflection of life spoken by Hugo Weaving. He gives words of hope juxtaposed against some beautifully animated thick brush animation. God or fate has placed Ritchie in this location where he is the last face to one who is at their most lonely.
Life is not as hopeless as you think. If you feel there is no hope, talk to someone…anyone.
