The story for the film revolves around a new product called The Substance that promises to transform people into the best version of themselves of their dreams. As you might imagine, there’s a sinister twist.The film came with the following note: “Have you ever dreamed of a better version of yourself? You should try this new product: The Substance. It changed my life. “With The Substance, you can generate another version of yourself, younger, more beautiful, more perfect… Just share the time. One week for one, one week for the other. If you respect the balance… what could possibly go wrong?”The movie was written and directed by Coralie Fargeat, who previously made the 2017 action-thriller Revenge. The movie will get a theatrical release later this year.
