‘The Boys’ Showrunner Eric Kripke Says There’s One More Secret Spinoff In The Works
Jun 11, 2024
We just found out that “The Boys” is ending with Season 5 on Prime Video, but that doesn’t mean the universe that has been established in that show is going anywhere. If anything, it’s only just begun.
Speaking during an upcoming episode of The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast, “The Boys” showrunner Eric Kripke talked about what the future looks like for the franchise he kickstarted several years ago. And actually, there’s a secret spinoff in the works.

So, what are those spinoffs? “Gen V” and “The Boys: Diabolical” have already debuted, but there’s also a spinoff that Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal are developing with Kripke, along with a previously unknown secret spinoff that Kripke let slip.
“There’s one more script that’s in development, but, you know, we’re being pretty close to the vest about what it is. But I love it. And I think it’s really good,” Kripke teased. “And the thing I’m proud of with the stuff we’re doing is everything is so different from the other thing. They’re just radically different shows and the rule has always been—it has to be something that none of the other shows could even think to do. And it has to stand on its own as a great show, even if ‘The Boys’ never existed. And I think [we have] a long way to go with the development that. We’re in [development] both for this one and ‘The Boys: Mexico,’ but I think they’re really promising because I think they’re just really unique, great shows.”
It’s incredibly difficult to even speculate about what a new spinoff might look like. Will it have to deal with the fallout of “The Boys?” Or is it like “Gen V” and features a brand-new cast and setting? Odds are, considering how thoughtful everyone has been with the expansion of “The Boys” universe, it’s likely the latter.

While we’re on the topic of spinoffs and “Gen V,” in particular, Kripke also talked a bit about what it was like reckoning with the tragic death of Chance Perdomo, one of the lead actors of the massively popular ‘Boys’ spinoff. We know the show isn’t going to shy away from the real-life tragedy, and the loss will be reflected in the show.
“I mean, it was absolutely brutal. What a horrific tragedy—he’s a 27-year-old kid. His whole career in front of him. So, that bar surpasses any other issue or challenge,” said Kripke. “People ask me, ‘Was it difficult to have to revise the season or change the storyline in such a short period of time?’ And my answer is like, ‘Yeah, but nothing compared to what it must be like for his family.’ And that’s really the horror of it. And just my heart goes out to, you know, everyone who knew him and loved him.”
The second season of “Gen V” just started production last month, so it’s still a ways off from being on Prime Video. But Season 4 (the penultimate batch of episodes) of “The Boys” debuts on June 13.
