‘The Boys’ Spinoff Enrolls In College In 2023

Dec 18, 2022

“The Boys” has not only become one of the smartest superhero satires to ever grace a screen, but the series is, without a doubt, one of the most popular shows on a streaming service right now. And in this world of IP dominance, you better believe Amazon knows that the best way to handle a runaway hit like “The Boys” is to start with the spinoffs. That’s where we get “Gen V.”

This isn’t the first time Amazon has released a spinoff of “The Boys.” Previously, fans were introduced to “The Boys: Diabolical.” However, that series is just an animated anthology telling random tales from the superhero universe. “Gen V,” on the other hand, is a live-action spinoff that focuses on a new group of heroes who are attending Godolkin University, where they are honing their abilities to become great superheroes in the future.
If you’re a fan of the source material, you know the characters being teased in the new series will eventually become the G-Men, who are “The Boys” equivalent of the X-Men. So, if “The Boys” skewers superheroes like the Avengers and Justice League, “Gen V” is likely going to take aim at the gifted youngsters who comprise the X-Men.

The series features a huge ensemble cast that includes Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, Marco Pigossi, Clancy Brown, Alexander Calvert, and Jason Ritter. With “The Boys” showrunner, Eric Kripke, serving only as an executive producer, the showrunning duties for “Gen V” are in the hands of Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters.
“Gen V” is expected to arrive on Prime Video in 2023. You can watch the first teaser below.
Here’s the synopsis for the series:
