‘The Boys’ To End After Season 5
Jun 11, 2024
Since its debut several years ago, “The Boys” has consistently been one of the biggest shows for Prime Video. Now, as the series enters its fourth season later this week, it appears now is the best time to announce when the show will be coming to an end.

According to showrunner Eric Kripke, Season 5 of “The Boys” will be the last one for the series. On X, Kripke wrote, “Season 4 Premiere Week is a good time to announce: Season 5 will be the Final Season! Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final OK from Vought. Thrilled to bring the story to a gory, epic, moist climax. Watch Season 4 in 2 DAYS, cause the end has begun!”
It sounds as if this has always been the plan for “The Boys,” which is good. For better or worse, it seems as if streaming series are given just a few seasons to tell their story. But obviously, with a big hit like “The Boys,” it’s probably true that Prime Video would have liked two or three more seasons. Thankfully, it seems that the showrunner was able to come to a conclusion on his own terms.

For those who don’t watch the series, “The Boys” tells the story of a group of regular humans who make it their personal mission to take down the superheroes of the world. Why would they want to take down superheroes? Well, in this universe, the superheroes are self-obsessed assholes who are only out for themselves.
Obviously, we have no idea how the show is going to end. Well, I mean, unless you read the comics that the show is based on. That’s a potential ending, right there. But to be fair, the show has gone so far off the beaten path of the comics, it’s much more likely that Kripke and Co. will end with something completely different.
Also, it’s worth noting that Prime Video won’t be without ‘Boys’ content. The streamer is in production on Season 2 of the spinoff “Gen V,” and we know Gael Garcia Bernal is working on his own Mexican spinoff. You have to assume there is plenty more in this universe on the way.
Season 4 of “The Boys” debuts on Prime Video on June 13.
