THE LAST AIRBENDER Season 2 Adds Stars from SEVERANCE, Marvel’s ECHO, and More — GeekTyrant

Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender is officially diving into its next chapter, and the cast just got an upgrade. With production on Season 2 now wrapped, the streamer has pulled back the curtain on a fresh batch of new characters, and the actors stepping into these roles, known from Severance and Marvel’s Echo.Among the new additions are Madison Hu as Fei, Dichen Lachman (Severance) as Yangchen, Dolly De Leon as both Lo and Li, Lily Gao as Ursa, Terry Chen as Jeong Jeong, Jon Jon Briones as Piandao, and Tantoo Cardinal (Echo) as Hama. These characters are big players. Hama, for example, introduces one of the most disturbing and fascinating bending abilities in the entire franchise, which leads Katara down an unexpectedly dark path. Yangchen, a former Avatar, brings Aang’s spiritual lineage into focus, while Ursa ties directly into Zuko’s tortured past. These characters aren’t just cameos—they’re emotional landmines waiting to explode.Netflix seems to be embracing the heavier tone of Avatar’s later seasons. The original animation famously got darker and more mature as it went on, and this casting announcement suggests the live-action adaptation is following suit.Season 2 will also mark the debut of Miya Cech as Toph Beifong, one of the most beloved characters in the franchise. She’ll be joined by Chin Han as Long Feng, Justin Chien as King Kuei, Amanda Zhou as Joo Dee, Crystal Yu as Lady Beifong, Kelemete Mispeka as The Boulder, Hoa Xuande as Professor Zei, Lourdes Faberes as General Sung, and Rekha Sharma as Amita. As for returning cast members, the core group is back. Gordon Cormier (Aang), Kiawentiio (Katara), Ian Ousley (Sokka), Dallas Liu (Zuko), Elizabeth Yu (Azula), Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (Iroh), and Daniel Dae Kim (Fire Lord Ozai) are all confirmed to reprise their roles. There’s no release date yet for Season 2, and no firm details on Season 3 beyond the fact that it’s happening.
