Hollywood icon Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recreates an equally iconic image of Black Adam in the latest look at the upcoming DC outing. Released courtesy of Black Adam producer and Johnson’s frequent collaborator Hiram Garcia, the image finds The Rock sitting atop a throne made out of stone, perfectly bringing to life an image created by artist J.G. Jones and which adorned a Black Adam comic book cover back in 2007’s 52 #45. You can check out the latest look at Johnson as Black Adam below.
“Who’s ready for our @blackadammovie?!” Garcia says in a caption alongside the image. “We are officially two weeks out from unleashing the man in black on the DC Cinematic Universe. In honor of our movie approaching here’s a look at a shot that @therock, @danygarciaco, and I had always wanted to recreate ourselves. We shot this on set the moment it was built. Can’t wait for you guys to see #BlackAdam!!”
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
DC fans have been waiting far too long to finally see Dwayne Johnson suit up as Black Adam, with the actor once again demonstrating how well-suited he is to the role in this newest look. Black Adam is a project that Johnson has been striving to bring to the big screen for years, and will introduce the action superstar as the titular antihero. After nearly five thousand years of imprisonment, Black Adam, an antihero from the ancient city of Kahndaq, is unleashed into modern times.
His brute tactics and way of justice attract the attention of the Justice Society of America, who tries to stop his rampage, teach him how to be a hero more than a villain, and must team up to stop a force more powerful than Adam himself.
Black Adam Will Introduce the Justice Society of America Alongside the DC Antihero

Black Adam will not only introduce audiences to the title character, but also the Justice Society of America, a superhero team who cross paths with Johnson’s lethal protector. One Night in Miami… star Aldis Hodge will lead the JSA as Carter Hall, AKA Hawkman, an archaeologist who discovers that he is the reincarnation of an Egyptian prince, with James Bond star Pierce Brosnan joining him as the all-powerful sorcerer Kent Nelson AKA Doctor Fate.
Black Adam will see the JSA re-emerge after several decades, with Hawkman and Doctor Fate enlisting some new recruits in the form of Euphoria star Quintessa Swindell’s Maxine Hunkel AKA Cyclone, the granddaughter of former hero Red Tornado, who can control wind and generate sound, and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before star Noah Centineo, who stars in Black Adam as Albert “Al” Rothstein, AKA Atom Smasher, who can control his molecular structure and manipulate his size and strength.
Director Jaume Collet-Serra recently offered some insight into the live-action debut of the JSA. “We have Doctor Fate, Hawkman, Cyclone, and Atom Smasher. Hawkman and Doctor Fate are the senior members of the team,” he explained. “For Doctor Fate, he’s almost godlike, so to have Pierce Brosnan, who is so warm and sensitive, made it the perfect combination. [Hawkman] has a very strict sense of morality and justice. He’s a bit of a scientist and a bit of a gladiator. Atom Smasher is a little bit of the new kid on the black. He’s someone who’s very charming, but also isn’t quite sure if he’s on the right side. Finally, we have Cyclone, who comes from a linage of heroes and has been imbued with nanotechnology.”
Black Adam is scheduled to be released in the United States on October 21, 2022, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
