‘The Studio’ Gets The Greenlight For A Second Season
May 7, 2025
Good news, prestige television fans, “The Studio” got another greenlight. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s often brilliant spotlight on the movie business has been picked up for a second season. The Apple TV+ series is currently over halfway through its inaugural run with an episode skewering the awards experience, and a jaw-dropping recreation of the Golden Globes, debuting this week.

In a statement, creators and executive producers Rogen and Goldberg remarked, “We’re thrilled to be making a second season of ‘The Studio.’ We’re looking forward to taking the lived experience of making season one and immediately putting it into season two, then repeating that loop for ten more seasons. And, we’re excited to keep all our industry friends and colleagues guessing as to when one of their personal stories will stream on Apple TV+.”
Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, added, “Seth, Evan, the entire creative team and cast of ‘The Studio’ have knocked it out of the park with this brilliant show, and it has been incredible to watch the conversation grow with each new episode. We can’t wait to see where Matt Remick takes Continental Studios in season two, and hope for his sake that the ‘Kool-Aid’ movie crushes at the box office.”
It should be noted that Peter Huyck and Alex Gregory, as well as Frida Perez, also have “created by” credit on the series. Alex McAtee and Josh Fagen also serve as executive producers.
Set in the fictional Continental Studios, the series finds Rogen playing the newly installed studio head who has to navigate the whims of the eccentric head of his media company (Bryan Cranston), play nice with his ex-boss turned producer (Catherine O’Hara), listen to the over-the-top recommendations from his head of marketing (Kathryn Hahn), and stop his top two creative executives (Ike Barinholtz and Chase Sui Wonders) from stealing eacho other’s projects. It is expected that the main cast will return for the second go-around.
Rogen also stars in and executive produces another Apple TV+ series, “Platonic,” alongside Rose Byrne. That comedy series will return for season two this summer. Hahn is currently shooting David O. Russell’s “Madden” while O’Hara is doing double duty on HBO’s “The Last of Us.” Cranston will be seen next in Wes Anderson’s “The Phoenician Scheme,” which will debut at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival before hitting theaters at the end of the month. Barinholtz is also the co-creator and executive producer of “Running Point,” which Netflix also just renewed for a second season. Wonders will appear in “I Know What You Did This Summer” this July and recently finished shooting Greg Araki’s “I Want Your Sex” alongside “The Studio” guest star Olivia Wilde, Charli XCX, and Cooper Hoffman, among others.
“The Studio” joins a long list of major Emmy contenders for Apple TV+ this year, including “Severance,” “Shrinking,” “Disclaimer,” and “Presumed Innocent.”
“The Studio” is available on Apple TV+ with new episodes dropping on Wednesday.
