The White Lotus Season 3 First Look Teases a Disastrous Thailand Adventure on Max

Aug 6, 2024

The White Lotus is coming back, ready to savagely critique the morals and greed of the wealthy elite, and this time they’re flying out to Thailand. The hit HBO series, created by Mike White, is returning for its third season and fans have their first official glimpse at the new characters. Season 1 featured a stress-inducing vacation to the White Lotus resort in Hawaii, while Season 2 saw new faces, and some returning favorites venture to the White Lotus Italy, with disastrous consequences.

New footage in a HBO featurette (which you can check out below) teases the beautiful White Lotus resort in Thailand. Opening with a dramatic slo-mo shot, the featurette gives audiences their first glimpse of the cast in HBO’s hit seasonal anthology series. Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Sarah Catherine Hook can be seen wearing fashionably expensive clothing.

Leslie Bibb and Michelle Monaghan can also be seen in the following shot, as two resort goers relaxing beside the hotel’s pool. The footage then closes on an action shot of the country’s national sport, Muay Thai (Thai Kickboxing). While none of the main characters appear in the shot, we no doubt expect someone to fall foul of the brutal martial art…

The White Lotus Season 3 Is About Death

As well as its incredibly catchy opening score, The White Lotus has become a fan favorite for its no-hold bars satire of the wealthy upper classes. Each season explores a different perspective as a new bunch of rich characters embark on a vacation they’ll never forget. Carrie Coon, who also stars in The White Lotus’ third season, has already revealed the angle Season 3 will take. The actress said recently to Vanity Fair…

“[Mike White]’s really speaking to people who need to be spoken to in a really interesting way. He had a season about money; he had a season about sex. And this is his season about death. So here we are in this Buddhist country.”

As well as its scathing satire, The White Lotus is also renowned for its incredible ensemble casts. Season 1 flew Murray Bartlett, Connie Britton, Jennifer Coolidge, Alexandria Daddario, Jake Lacy, Fred Hechinger, Steve Zahn, and Sydney Sweeney out to Hawaii. Season 2 then upped the ante, as Michael Imperioli, Aubrey Plaza, Sabrina Impacciatore, Theo James, Ethan Spiller, Haley Lu Richardson, and Meghann Fahy, vacationed in Italy, joined by Jennifer Coolidge.

Season 3 features an equally impressive cast. As well as those already mentioned, The White Lotus Season 3 features Dom Hetrakul, Tayme Thapthimthong, Aimee Lou Wood, Sam Nivola, Christian Friedel, Morgana O’Reilly, Shalina Peiris, Scott Glenn, and Walton Goggins. Plot details about Season 3 are still being kept under tight-wraps. However, Walton Goggins has also teased how Season 3 could play out, describing it as “meta.” The actor said to LA Times…

“It’s all very meta on every level. We’re guests checking into a hotel playing guests checking in to a hotel. We spend all this time together, whether we like it or not, eating breakfast, lunch and dinner. We work where we stay.”

The White Lotus
Season 3 has no official release date, but will debut in 2025.
