Black Widow star and Academy Award nominee Florence Pugh has revealed our first look at the filming of Thunderbolts. The oft-delayed MCU outing is finally now before cameras, with Pugh revealing the new suit she will wear for her return as Yelena Belova and the first still from the movie, as well as teasing that Thunderbolts may undergo a title change.
You can check out the sneak peek footage and what Pugh had to say about production on Thunderbolts below.
“Hey guys, how are you doing? I know I’ve dropped off for a little bit, but that’s partially because I was whisked off to Atlanta to shoot a movie that I’m not really supposed to talk about. But I can show you things, sneakily, as long as you don’t tell anyone…I can show you a sneak peek of the set. They’re shooting. I’ll be quiet now.”
The clip shows off Pugh’s new costume, revealing that she will get an upgrade in the MCU outing. A mysterious logo on her shoulder and the surrounding setting could also offer clues as to the movie’s plot, with some suggesting that she is standing in the giant vault area where the titular team will find the supervillain/hero Sentry.
Thunderbolts was last delayed by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes last year, which caused The Walking Dead star Steven Yeun to drop out, but it’s good to see that the Marvel project is now up and running at last.

Thunderbolts will now be the final movie in Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directed by Jake Schreier and written by Eric Pearson and Lee Sung Jin, the story will follow the titular group of heroes and antiheroes.
The group that includes Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko). Top Gun: Maverick star Lewis Pullman, meanwhile, has now been cast as Robert Reynolds, aka Sentry, a character who is often described as Marvel’s Superman and who manifests the personalities of both a hero and a villain.
Related The Guardians of the Galaxy Trilogy May Be Over, But Another Group Could Replace the Team Motley groups of heroes are always fun, but the newest MCU group could rival them all if they do it right.
Following some much-publicized Marvel “fatigue,” The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Wyatt Russell has hyped up Thunderbolts as something different in the franchise, declaring “it’s time to make a good Marvel movie.”
“But it’s not a straightforward Marvel movie as you’ve seen in the past. I think that it’s gonna be a lot of fun but I think it will be something that hopefully Marvel fans will look at and go, ‘Oh OK, this is a little different, let’s go hard at it.’ And as far as how we are approaching it, it’s time to go to work a little bit, it’s time to make a good Marvel movie so let’s do that and work hard at it and don’t take things for granted.”
Thunderbolts
is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 2, 2025.
