Timothy Olyphant Won’t Say If He’ll Be In Dave Filoni’s Movie But Is Game To Return As Cobb Vanth
Jul 31, 2023
There are still a lot of questions surrounding the future of “Star Wars” on the big screen. Even though Lucasfilm announced a trio of new films earlier this year, it’s difficult to imagine a world where they all get made, especially given how the studio has developed and canceled films before production quite a lot. But one of the movies definitely seems like it’s going to happen, and that’s the untitled film from director Dave Filoni, which is expected to serve as an ‘Avengers’-style crossover with all of his live-action “Star Wars” TV series from Disney+. We don’t know much about it, namely what characters are going to show up, but fans have speculated quite a bit. One of the fan-favorite characters that people hope to see in the crossover film is Cobb Vanth, played by Timothy Olyphant, from “The Mandalorian.” But don’t expect Olyphant to spill the beans about whether or not he’s going to appear.

Speaking in a recent episode of The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast, Timothy Olyphant was asked if he has received a call from Dave Filoni about showing up in the planned ‘Star Wars’ TV crossover film that is expected to hit theaters in the next several years. In response to that question, Olyphant playfully said, “If I had [talks with Filoni], I wouldn’t tell you.”
But if given his choice, Olyphant would love to see Cobb Vanth show up in the film or any future “Star Wars” projects.

“Honestly, I can tell you that I’ve been very, very lucky with those guys. I’ve only done two episodes and to have only done those two episodes and feel like you’re part of a world and they created such a memorable character,” said the actor. “I mean, you know, I’m getting away with something here. I did two episodes and I’ve got like four toys out there. It’s ridiculous, and I know it because all of a sudden there’s people at the airport with toys. That’s new. But, it was a ball working on those things and those guys know if they call me I’d show up. I don’t care if it’s a big giant thing or just to show up for an afternoon. It’s a fun gig.”
So, it remains unclear whether or not Olyphant has a future in the “Star Wars” galaxy. However, if the actor has anything to say about it, then you should expect to see more Cobb Vanth at some point in the future.
