TULSA KING Renewed for Season 4 with Terence Winter Returning as Head Writer — GeekTyrant
Sep 23, 2025
Paramount+ isn’t ready to let go of Tulsa King just yet. The streamer has officially renewed the hit crime drama for Season 4, and along with the announcement comes big news: Terence Winter is making a full return behind the scenes.Tulsa King Season 3 is just around the corner, premiering September 21, but we can now breathe easy knowing the story will continue. Last year, reports surfaced that Sylvester Stallone was close to finalizing a deal that would keep him on board through at least Season 4, and now that’s been locked in.Winter, who originally served as showrunner and executive producer during the first season, left the series before Season 2. He did return later as a writer and executive producer, before stepping into a consulting role for Season 3 while also working on an FX project about mobster Sammy “The Bull” Gravano. With Season 4, Winter is officially back in the driver’s seat as head writer and executive producer. Season 3 showrunner Dave Erickson won’t be returning, instead he’ll be focusing on Sheridan’s other Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown. The official Season 3 description teases a dangerous new chapter for Dwight Manfredi: “As Dwight’s (Stallone) empire expands, so do his enemies – and the risks to his crew. Now, he faces his most dangerous adversaries in Tulsa yet: the Dunmires, a powerful old-money family that doesn’t play by old-world rules, forcing Dwight to fight for everything he’s built and protect his family.”Along with Stallone, the upcoming season features Martin Starr, Jay Will, Annabella Sciorra, Neal McDonough, Robert Patrick, Beau Knapp, Bella Heathcote, Chris Caldovino, McKenna Quigley Harrington, Mike “Cash Flo” Walden, Kevin Pollak, Vincent Piazza, Frank Grillo, Michael Beach, James Russo, Garrett Hedlund, and Dana Delany.Adding to the excitement, Samuel L. Jackson will guest star in multiple Season 3 episodes before stepping into his own spinoff, NOLA King. Announced earlier this summer, the spinoff is expected to begin filming in early 2026. Jackson plays a prison friend of Dwight’s sent to Tulsa to kill him, but instead finds himself inspired by Dwight’s operation and heads back to New Orleans to carve out his own place in the criminal underworld.NOLA King has its own behind-the-scenes shakeup. Erickson was originally attached as showrunner but stepped down, and no replacement has been named yet.Created by Taylor Sheridan, Tulsa King continues to expand its universe with more stories and talent both in front of and behind the camera. With Winter returning to steer the story and Stallone locked in, Season 4 is shaping up to be a great new chapter of the series.
