Twilight Fans’ Divided Reaction To TV Series News
May 8, 2023
While a lot of attention is being given to the reboot of the Harry Potter franchise, it shouldn’t be forgotten that the Twilight Saga is also being rebooted as a TV series by Lionsgate. The news of the franchise’s new iteration was received in pretty much the same way as that of HBO’s plans for the boy wizard, with many questioning the need for a reboot so soon after the original movie franchise came to an end. However, when it comes to Twilight fans, they appear to be even more divided than those of Harry Potter.
The Twilight Saga came to an end just over a decade ago with Breaking Dawn Part 2. While the movies have had their critics, their financial success justified their production costs and the movies made a star out Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart – even if both stars have spent the last ten years trying to escape the shadow of their roles. Now it looks like a whole new cast will be taking on the Stephanie Meyer vampire story, and while there are few details yet known, fans have already had their say on the project.
It is clear that there are many mixed feelings about the project, but the Twilight Saga’s constant visual effects complaints, and the critical reaction to the original movies are certainly something that could be addressed in the new version of the story, even if it does leave long-term Twi-hards feeling even more conflicted over their loyalties than they did in the Edward or Jacob debate.

Twilight’s Edward v Jacob Storyline Created Competitiveness Between Its Stars
Twilight and its sequels helped make stars of its trio of you leads, which included Taylor Lautner. Only aged 16 when he made his debut as Jacob in the franchise, the actor recently revealed that the whole fame thing was pretty strange for him. He also added that there was a definite shift in his relationship with Robert Pattinson thanks to the intense “Team Edward or Team Jacob” on-screen rivalry. He previously explained:
“I feel like I’d be lying if I said no. I was so young. I was 16 when Twilight came out, 17 for New Moon and Eclipse. I finished the franchise by the time I was 19… I was so young and yeah, I do feel like it was very strange traveling the world and being in different cities and having thousands of screaming fans either taking your side or the other guy’s side… Like, we’re a team. We’re both just trying to make the best movies… Yeah, it was a little bizarre, the competitiveness. There wasn’t a competitiveness between me and Rob, but having that constant reminder, it definitely had an impact.”
Currently, there have been no details of who could be taking on the roles of Edward, Jacob and Bella in the new series, but the young stars will at least have some idea of what to expect from the Twilight fandom this time around. However, with comparisons to the movies guaranteed, they could be in for a much more critical appraisal than their predecessors.
