‘Vision’ Series Cast Adds Emily Hampshire as MCU Spider-Man Character
Jun 14, 2025
The Vision series is starting to take shape as it has added a fan-favorite actor from Schitt’s Creek to its main cast. This won’t just be any role, but will be stepping into a previously established MCU character introduced in Spider-Man: Far From Home, who has not been seen in the franchise since 2019. Vision, under the working title Vision Quest, is aiming for a Disney+ debut in 2026 before the new release date for Avengers: Doomsday. It makes sense that the series would try to bring back and potentially wrap up long-dangling plot threads from the MCU’s history. Deadline reports that Emily Hampshire, best known for playing Stevie on the critically acclaimed Schitt’s Creek, will play E.D.I.T.H. in the upcoming Vision series. E.D.I.T.H. (Even Dead, I’m The Hero) is an artificial intelligence security system designed by Tony Stark and given to Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Far From Home. E.D.I.T.H. controlled a fleet of militarized drones that Quentin Beck / Mysterio employed before being stopped by Spider-Man. Dawn Mitchell King previously voiced E.D.I.T.H. in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

With Emily Hampshire joining the cast of Vision as E.D.I.T.H., it appears the upcoming MCU series will see a meeting of the various artificial intelligences created by Tony Stark. Vision is played by Paul Bettany, who previously voiced Tony Stark’s A.I. operating system, J.A.R.V.I.S. James Spader will reprise his role as Ultron, one of Tony Stark’s creations and the “father” of Vision. T’Nia Miller was recently confirmed to be playing Jocasta, an operating system teased in Age of Ultron before Stark uploaded F.R.I.D.A.Y. Meanwhile, Kerry Condon, who has previously voiced F.R.I.D.A.Y., is rumored to be joining the cast of Vision as well. No word on whether Jennifer Connelly, Bettany’s wife, will reprise her role as Peter Parker’s first A.I., Karen, from Spider-Man: Homecoming.

‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ is the MCU title that really captures the feeling of reading a classic Avengers comic book.
E.D.I.T.H.’s role in the MCU is certainly interesting, as she was seemingly confiscated by Damage Control along with the drone system she controlled at the beginning of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Those drones were last seen in Ms. Marvel under the control of Damage Control, but it is unclear if they have the E.D.I.T.H. artificial intelligence. With Hampshire cast in the role, it suggests the AI will have a physical form. However, it remains unclear if it will be a tangible one like Vision and Ultron’s, or if Hampshire will play a representation of E.D.I.T.H. in cyberspace. Hampshire is an excellent addition to Vision and the wider MCU. Her role as Stevie on Schitt’s Creek gained her wide recognition and critical acclaim. With reports that Disney and its subsidiaries like Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm are scaling back productions on streaming series, Vision looks to represent the end of a specific era that fittingly began with WandaVision back in 2021. While the MCU feature film characters might no longer appear in Disney+ series, characters like Hampshire’s E.D.I.T.H. could become new pillars of the television side of the franchise.
