Most recently, a younger version of the character was played by acclaimed Dune actor Timothée Chalamet.

As per Bloody Disgusting, a horror movie based on the viral Willy Wonka experience has just been announced. The horror film will be titled The Unknown, and based off of one of the main figures in the viral experience. The Unknown will be produced by Kaledonia Pictures and aims for a release date in late 2024. Check out Kaledonia Pictures’ synopsis of the film below:

The film, gearing up for production and a late 2024 release, follows a renowned illustrator and his wife who are haunted by the tragic death of their son, Charlie. Desperate to escape their grief, the couple leave the world behind for the remote Scottish Highlands – where an unknowable evil awaits them.

The Willy Wonka Experience Explained

Opening in Glasgow, Scotland, the Willy Wonka experience was billed as an immersive experience that would emulate the movies. Organized by House of Illuminati, the event took place in a sparsely-decorated warehouse. Instead of a world of pure imagination, the decor looked closer to something one would buy at a dollar store. The event was shut down after multiple complaints from parents and the police being called.

The nature of the Willy Wonka experience will lend itself to some twisted and unique mascot horror as
The Unknown
continues its development.

Following this disaster, the Willy Wonka experience went viral on TikTok. Its notoriety has been further spurred by comments from the actors hired for the event, who detailed their side of the story. This has included Wonka actor Paul Connell, who called the script for the immersive experience “15 pages[…] of AI-generated gibberish.” One of the Oompa Loompa actors said she was “horrified” and “questioned [her] sanity” during the process of the Wonka-inspired event.

Related Why Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory Never Got A Sequel (Despite The Book Having One) Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory has gotten the adaptation treatment many times, but the book’s sequel never got to the big screen because of this.

One masked character from the experience has been coined “The Unknown” online, becoming the eponymous character in the upcoming horror film. The Unknown, as well as some of the other slapdash costumes, were thought to be horror movie-esque in the low-budget experience. The nature of the Willy Wonka experience will lend itself to some twisted and unique mascot horror as The Unknown continues its development.
