On Instagram, Mackie shared the first photo of him and new Thunderbolt Ross actor Harrison Ford together on the set of the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World, which replaces Captain America: New World Order as the title of Sam Wilson’s first solo movie.

While sharing the title change for his first MCU solo movie, Mackie also revealed the best look yet at his new Captain America suit, which goes away from Sam’s comics-accurate white suit from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, looking similar to Steve Rogers’ stealth suit from Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

What Captain America 4’s Name Change Could Mean?

While it is not known what reason was behind Marvel Studios’ decision to let go of the original Captain America: New World Order title for Sam Wilson’s upcoming movie, it might have been due to possible real-world connotations. There is a conspiracy theory that exists about a totalitarian regime that will secretly emerge to take over the world. While that idea is ridiculous, it is perhaps for the best that Marvel is steering clear of any possible connections to the conspiracy theory.

In changing the movie’s title, Marvel chose a new name that has a connection to the Captain America comics. Captain America: Brave New World might connect with the controversial Secret Empire event from Marvel Comics. Secret Empire focused on Steve Rogers being revealed as a Hydra agent all along, with Captain America becoming a fascist leader, controlling the entire world. It was later revealed that the Red Skull had used the sentient Cosmic Cube named Kobik to replace Steve with an evil version of himself.

As comic book events do, Secret Empire had a number of tie-in comics. One of those was Secret Empire: Brave New World, which matches the new title of Mackie’s Captain America film. In that story, each issue focused on a different group of heroes coming to terms with their life under Hydra’s grasp. While there is currently no indication that Chris Evans will be back in the film to play an evil version of Steve Rogers, the new title could be related to Tim Blake Nelson’s Leader taking over control of the world through the creation of multiple Hulks, a rumored plot point of Captain America: Brave New World.
