Invincible & DC Live-Action Casting Chances Get Eager Response From Star

Summary
Jacob Tremblay expresses his excitement about potentially starring in a live-action Invincible or DC movie, reflecting on his love for the genre. Tremblay’s past experience in the superhero genre, such as his role in Harley Quinn, could make him a good fit for a live-action adaptation. Tremblay’s enthusiasm and early success make him a potential candidate for the Invincible movie or James Gunn’s DC Universe.
With two major superhero franchises under his belt, Jacob Tremblay addresses the chances of starring in the live-action Invincible movie or James Gunn’s DC Universe. After scoring acclaim for his breakout turn in Room, the young star has scored a number of mainstream roles, including starring as the Damian Wayne version of Robin in Max’s Harley Quinn and making a guest appearance in Invincible season 2. He starred in the latter as Prince Lizard, Phase Two, one of the members of the supervillain team, The Lizard League.
During a recent interview with Screen Rant for the Netflix animated movie Orion and the Dark, Tremblay was asked about making the leap to live-action superhero filmmaking for Invincible or DC. The young star was enthusiastic about the prospect of starring in either, reflecting on growing up with the genre as a whole and feeling it would be “a dream”. Check out what Tremblay said below:
I would love to be able to go into that. That’s just a dream for anyone, I feel especially me, who’s just grown up on those type of movies. Invincible was really fun, I’m a big fan of the show, so to be able to be a part in that is really cool. I always love talking about it with my friends.
Tremblay Is Perfect For Live-Action Superhero Roles
With such a wide roster of talent in the show, curiosity has swirled as to who else from the Invincible cast could return for the long-in-development live-action movie adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s comics. J.K. Simmons and Steven Yeun have been the two fans of the animated show have remained hopeful would return for the live-action movie, particularly as the former brought so much power to his role as Omni-Man. Yeun, on the other hand, recently addressed the possibility of his being in the movie to Screen Rant:
Well, I am 40 [Chuckles]. Yeah, we’ll see. I love working with Robert. That comic is so great, and it goes so long and so deep. So, I’m excited to see that play itself out. Right now, we’re having a lot of fun making this show. Live action — who knows?
As Tremblay has starred in a large range of projects since making his acting debut with 2013’s The Smurfs 2 and Motive, it’s clear the young star’s acting talents would be a welcome addition to the superhero genre. Gunn’s DC Universe, in particular, seems like a fitting place for him to make his live-action superhero genre debut as the DC Studios Co-CEO looks to start from scratch. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is also a prime spot as they look to be building towards a Young Avengers roster, in which there are multiple character options for him to play.
Tremblay’s own past in the former with Harley Quinn could prove a pathway for the actor to bring Damian Wayne to life on screen in the DCU’s The Brave and the Bold, which is expected to introduce the character and be a father-son story between him and Batman. His younger age would also allow for some potential longevity in the franchise, as Gunn and director Andy Muschietti could avoid concerns of him aging out of the role. While it’s unclear if he will ultimately be considered for the live-action Invincible movie or Gunn’s DCU, Tremblay’s enthusiasm and early success should make him a potential candidate.
