Deadpool 3 Will ‘Save’ the MCU, Kick-Ass Director Matthew Vaughn Declares
Feb 6, 2024
Summary
Matthew Vaughn hints that Deadpool 3 will save the struggling Marvel Cinematic Universe with its thrilling and impactful storyline. The upcoming movie will feature an epic showdown between Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, bringing new life to the MCU. Vaughn’s involvement in the comic book movie genre, including X-Men: First Class and Kick-Ass, adds credibility to his claim of Deadpool 3’s potential success.
X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn has declared that Deadpool 3 will “save” the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Speaking recently on the Post-Credit Podcast, Vaughn revealed that he has seen a “few snippets” from the upcoming Deadpool threequel, which will see the Merc With a Mouth join forces with Wolverine and embark on an adventure across the multiverse, and has stated that the movie will bring the MCU “back to life” after a litany of critical and box office disappointments.
“The few snippets that I know about Deadpool vs. Wolverine — or Wolverine vs. Deadpool, I’m sure that argument between Ryan and Hugh is happening as we speak — are unbelievable. That’s going to be the jolt… the Marvel universe is about to have a jolt of them and it’s going to bring that body back to life… I think Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are about to save the whole Marvel universe.”
Matthew Vaughn is, of course, no stranger to the world of comic book movies. The filmmaker has helmed several in his career so far, including the 2011’s X-Men: First Class, which took the mutants back to the 1960s and led to the merging of timelines and casts in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, and adaptations of Mark Millar’s Kick-Ass and Kingsman: The Secret Service.
While details of Deadpool 3 remain largely unknown (though hot rumors have claimed it will follow Deadpool and Wolverine on a road trip across the multiverse), a newly released synopsis teases the major shake-up that Vaughn has hinted at.
