“The irresponsible hero Deadpool will change the history of the MCU with Wolverine!?”

Directed by Shawn Levy from a script by the writing team of Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, as well as Zeb Wells, Ryan Reynolds, and Levy, Deadpool 3 sees Ryan Reynolds return as the beloved Marvel character, with X-Men and Logan star Hugh Jackman set to reprise the role of Wolverine.

Deadpool & Wolverine Release Date July 26, 2024 Studio Marvel Studios, 20th Century Studios, 21 Laps Entertainment

The Deadpool threequel will see several other stars reprise their roles from previous installments, including Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, and Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus.

Deadpool 3 is also expected to be chock-full of crowd-pleasing cameos as Deadpool and Wolverine embark on a mission across the multiverse. Among the rumored appearances are Jennifer Garner as Elektra Natchios, Halle Berry as Storm, Ben Affleck as Daredevil, and many, many more.

Additionally, The Crown’s Emma Corrin and Succession star Matthew Macfadyen have been cast in undisclosed roles, with the character Dogpool also set to appear, played by dog actor Peggy.

Deadpool 3 Will Be R-Rated & Very Much Part of the MCU

Deadpool 3 will see the character leave his world behind and join the MCU, and has been confirmed to be the first R-rated movie in the franchise to hit the big screen. Director Shawn Levy has described the Marvel outing as “raw, audacious, very much R-rated,” while comparing it to the likes of 48 Hours and Midnight Run.

“We wanted something that felt grounded — real. But you put Hugh Jackman in his most iconic character alongside Ryan Reynolds in his most iconic character… I would say [Deadpool 3] is more a descendant of Midnight Run, and 48 Hours, and Planes, Trains and Automobiles than it is a descendant of Airplane!”

Despite the blood, gore, and other R-rated material that will be on display in Deadpool 3, Levy has previously assured fans that the sequel will be “very much part of the MCU.”

“I’m so wary of giving anything away because I’ve learned the hard way that even with a few titles – like any Marvel title – everything and anything you say can lead to not only rumors but misinformation. I’ll just say this: It’s very much part of the MCU. What a privilege, what a wealth of resources and knowledge.”

Deadpool 3
is scheduled to be released on July 26, 2024, as part of Phase Five of the MCU.
