Zach Galifianakis Joins Hulu’s ‘Only Murders In The Building’
Mar 12, 2024
The upcoming season of Hulu’s acclaimed comedic murder mystery series “Only Murders In The Building” will have a stacked murderer’s row of comedic talent joining an impressive cast. While talking with Entertainment Tonight on the Oscars red carpet on Sunday, cast member Eva Longoria revealed that funnyman Zach Galifianakis (“The Hangover”) will also be part of the show that is currently filming.
“We started shooting,” Longoria told ET from the red carpet of the 96th Academy Awards. “I had to pinch myself; we were just on set, and it’s Steve Martin, Martin Short, Meryl Streep, Molly Shannon, Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis, me —Selena Gomez… and I’m like, ‘Where am I?’”

Hulu briefly confirmed the casting to ET and added that Galifianakis’ role would be “a character that becomes integral to the twist and turns of this season’s investigation.”
While the series mainly takes place in Manhattan, New York, the new season is said to be spending time in Los Angeles, California. This move of location could explain the bevy of famous cast members, including Kumail Nanjiani (“Eternals”), lining up for roles in “Only Murders In The Building.”
If you’re unfamiliar with “Only Murders In The Building,” here is the logline:
Three strangers share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one. When a grisly death occurs inside their exclusive Upper West Side apartment building, the trio suspects murder and employs their precise knowledge of true crime to investigate the truth. Perhaps even more explosive are the lies they tell one another. Soon, the endangered trio comes to realize a killer might be living among them as they race to decipher the mounting clues before it’s too late.
Galifianakis is likely best known for the trilogy of “Hangover” movies, his viral satirical interviews with celebs on “Between Two Ferns,” and the award-winning FX series “Baskets” where he co-starred with the late Louie Anderson.
Considering that filming is underway, there is a potential that the series won’t be ready to air on Hulu until later this year, but a date has yet to be announced by the streaming service.
