The Brave and the Bold
with Andy Muschietti set to direct.

Reacher
star Alan Ritchson is also eager to play Batman in the DCU, showing enthusiasm in response to rumors.

Black Panther star Winston Dukewould love to playBatman in James Gunn’s DCU. The actor, who is best known for another comic role, that of M’Baku in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has played The Dark Knight before, voicing the iconic superhero in the Spotify audio drama Batman Unburied. Now, speaking with /Film, the actor revealed that he would love to don the cape and cowl in live-action.

“”Listen, man, can you start that [campaign]? I would say I challenge you to get on all these socials and push for me. Get your community. I would love to. I would love to do that as Batman. I’d love any opportunity to explore new characters, to change narratives around some of these entrenched ideas of how these characters are supposed to look, sound, and perform. I’m all for it.”

The DCU will bring a new Batman to screens alongside Robert Pattinson’s version in the ongoing The Batman franchise. While the latter movie is part of the DC “Elseworlds” series, a new Dark Knight will lead The Brave and the Bold as part of the DCU headed by James Gunn and Peter Safran. At present, it has not been revealed who will star as Batman in the project, but it has been confirmed that The Flash and It director Andy Muschietti will be at the helm.

Certainly, Winston Duke has the size and the intensity to play Batman but, for now, we will just have to wait and see who Gunn and Safran choose to defend the DCU’s Gotham City.

Reacher Star Alan Ritchson Would Also Love to Play Batman

Another large-framed actor who would love the chance to play Batman in the DCU is Reacher star Alan Ritchson, who has responded to the suggestion with a lot of enthusiasm.

“With all the rumors flying that I’m supposed to be playing Batman, how can I knock Batman? I would love to play Batman.”

The actor, whose star has risen quickly following his lead role in the hugely popular Prime Video series, has even now begun shouting “it from the rooftops” that he would jump at the chance to join the DCU.

“I’m getting this question, would I rather play Batman or Joker – Joaquin Phoenix crushed it, there’s no following that. I would love to play Batman, there, I said it! Okay I’ll shout it from the rooftops, ‘I want to be Bruce Wayne!’”
“Here’s the thing about Batman – you know what his superpower is? Intelligence: The dude is the smartest superhero there is. He’s inventive and he’s got all the gadgets stuff, but he’s super smart. I want to be that guy and also to have like a cave with hypercars, sports cars, and awesome motorcycles.”

Winston Duke can currently be seen starring alongside Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt in the action comedy
The Fall Guy
, which is out now in theaters.
