Megalopolis
alongside Adam Driver.

Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian star Giancarlo Espositohas further teased his mysterious role in theMCU, with the actor revealing that he will feature in a Disney+ Marvel series following what we assume will be his introduction on the big screen. During a recent appearance at Phoenix Fan Fusion (via Legion of Sand), Esposito was asked if he would be playing the supervillain Doctor Doom in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, to which he responded by waxing philosophical about “talking it into existence and making yourself believe in it.”

While he remained vague in this regard, the Better Call Saul star did offer some information regarding how heavily he will feature in the MCU, with a series coming “afterwards.”

“The MCU has knocked on my door and it’s a role you won’t predict. It will be teased and there will be a series afterwards.”

Esposito, who has received critical acclaim for his various villainous roles in the likes of Breaking Bad, The Mandalorian, and The Boys, revealed earlier this month that he has officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While we do not know who is playing, he has confirmed that it will not be one of the roles his was favored, that of X-Men leader Professor X. All the actor has said of his role so far is that it will be “better than you can imagine.”

Finally, during his recent appearance at Phoenix Fan Fusion, Esposito lamented that he could not reveal more, but promised to “knock it out of the park.”

Giancarlo Esposito Is on Villain Duty Again in Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis

With speculation rife over who Giancarlo Esposito will portray in the MCU, the franchise continues to move forward, with The Fantastic Four reboot recently revealing who will play the titular superhero team. Marvel Studios finally announced the cast of Fantastic Four back in February, revealing that the movie will be led by Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, aka Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, aka The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, aka Human Torch.

Directed by
WandaVision’s
Matt Shakman,
The Fantastic Four
is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 25, 2025, as part of Phase Six of the MCU.

Before suiting up for the MCU, the acclaimed actor will star opposite Adam Driver in director Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis. The sci-fi epic recently debuted at the 77th Cannes Film Festival where it hugely divided critics.

Featuring a large ensemble cast that includes Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Talia Shire, Jason Schwartzman, Kathryn Hunter, Grace VanderWaal, Chloe Fineman, James Remar, D. B. Sweeney, and Dustin Hoffman alongside Driver and Esposito, Megalopolis Follows genius artist Cesar Catilina as he seeks to leap the City of New Rome into a utopian, idealistic future, while his opposition, Mayor Franklyn Cicero, remains committed to a regressive status quo, perpetuating greed, special interests, and partisan warfare.
