MCU star Anson Mount recently addressed the rumors about his involvement in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars. Fans have been fervently speculating which stars from Marvel’s extensive roster will make an appearance in what is expected to be a massive crossover event.

Mount took to X to respond to rumors about his participation in the MCU film. With a dose of humor, he vehemently dismissed the rumors that he and the Inhumans cast would be returning to their roles for the film.

This is so interesting. Please tell us more about this contract I apparently signed in my sleep. I’m so curious to hear all the juicy details from a feed that is clearly not a click-farm.

Anson Mount Reflects on Black Bolt Role Amid MCU Rumor Mill

Mount is known for his portrayal of Black Bolt in the short-lived TV series Inhumans. This isn’t the actor’s first rodeo with Marvel rumors. He reprised his role as Black Bolt briefly in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, as part of the multiversal Illuminati team, stoking hopes for his further involvement in the MCU.

The fan frenzy doesn’t stop with Mount. Names like Toby Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Hugh Jackman, along with other beloved actors from the Marvel films, have all been tossed into the rumor mill for “Secret Wars.”

Despite Mount’s role as Black Bolt coming to an abrupt end in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the nature of the multiverse leaves doors wide open for character revivals. Mount’s relationship with Marvel Studios remains warm, as evidenced by his candid conversations about possibly donning Black Bolt’s costume once more. In an interview with Radio Times, he shared some insights into these discussions.

“If the answer was yes I wouldn’t be able to tell you, but the answer is no, so I can. I’ve had some informal conversations with the powers [at] Marvel and it’s a conversation, but they’ve got their current phase that they need to do… I don’t know, we’ll see. I would love to jump back into the cowl and do it again. I love Black Bolt as a character.”

Marvel’s track record with such massive ensemble casts, coupled with the multiverse’s ability to twist narratives and revive beloved characters, makes speculation about Mount’s involvement somewhat logical, despite his public denial of any current plans.

Multiverse of Madness Director Open to Helming Avengers: Secret Wars

MCU rumors also point to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness director Sam Raimi helming the “Secret Wars” film. During an interview with Screen Geek, Raimi addressed the matter.

“I love 90% of the Marvel heroes that I’ve read in the great Stan Lee Marvel Universe comic books. I would love to work with Marvel again. They haven’t reasonably asked me to. I hope they had a good experience with me. They haven’t asked me yet. I hope they do.”

Despite his eagerness, Raimi pointed out that Marvel Studios has not yet extended an invitation for this specific project. He remains hopeful about reuniting with Marvel.
