Daredevil Star Rosario Dawson Offers Hopeful Response Regarding MCU Return

Jun 23, 2024

Summary

Rosario Dawson may join
Daredevil
cast on Disney+.
Fans await Dawson’s confirmation for
Daredevil: Born Again
despite others rejoining.
Dawson loved watching Daredevil’s controversial walk of shame in
She-Hulk
, calling it ‘fire.’

Rosario Dawson, once a mainstay of Marvel’s partnership with Netflix, isn’t ruling out moving to Disney+ with the rest of the Daredevil cast. Dawson played Claire Temple in almost every Marvel show on Netflix (starting with Daredevil in 2015) and acted as the connective glue between the various series. With Marvel’s partnership with Netflix now over, and with Daredevil making the move to Disney+ in Daredevil: Born Again, Dawson is one of the few cast members who hasn’t been tapped or confirmed to reprise her role in the rebooted series.

During an appearance at Fan Expo Boston, on a panel moderated by Collider’s Steve Weintraub, Dawson revealed that she would love to join her former Daredevil castmates in the new series. The actress revealed that she was asked to sign numerous photos from her time playing Claire Temple and got to reunite with her former castmates over dinner the night before the expo, bringing back amazing memories. Dawson said:

“I have to say that was one of the things that I signed the most while I was here. It’s so great to be able to spend time with Jeph [Loeb]. We were at dinner last night and I got to see Vincent [D’Onofrio] and Charlie [Cox] and everyone. So, I would absolutely love it… I would love to hang with them and play with them again. That was such a great time. And, you know, Marvel, Disney, they got my number, they know where I am.”

At the time of writing, Dawson’s casting in Daredevil: Born Again has not been confirmed by Disney. Some fans are surprised considering that almost the entire cast of Daredevil’s core characters are making the move to Disney+ for Born Again.

Rosario Dawson Loved She-Hulk’s Most Controversial Moment

Whilst on the subject of Marvel’s Disney+ shows, Dawson found time to sneak in a quick comment on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. The series, which followed Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk (Tatiana Maslany), was the target of review bombing from audiences even before the show had been released. The series featured several moments which irritated fans, like the infamous twerking scene. But one that upset audiences the most was Daredevil’s so-called ‘walk of shame.’

After making a brief appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil was given a larger part in the MCU, appearing alongside She-Hulk in her Disney+ series. The episode gave Daredevil several cool fight scenes, but also included a controversial walk of shame following a one-night stand with Walters. Fans hated this moment. But Rosario Dawson revealed at the expo that she loved watching Daredevil’s barefooted walk of shame. Dawson said:

“I know some folks didn’t love the walk of shame that [Charlie] did on She-Hulk, but I thought that was fire. It was hilarious. You know, all is forgiven. I’ve had my coffee too, I get it.”

Rosario Dawson’s appearances as Claire Temple in the MCU can be streamed on Disney+. No official release date has been revealed for
Daredevil: Born Again
. The series is expected to hit Disney+ sometime in 2025.
