Earth’ Season 2 Casts Peter Dinklage as Series Regular

Apr 10, 2026

While screenwriter, television showrunner, and director Noah Hawley is already lining up his next feature film project, that seemingly hasn’t stopped developments on the second season of Alien: Earth. The series, which premiered on FX last year, was a project that had multiple firsts for the franchise: it was the first live-action Alien television series, and it would also be the first story that was set entirely on Earth, instead of the far reaches of space like all the mainline films. The series was well-received and renewed for a second season, and has now added an exciting new cast member to its already impressive ensemble. According to a new exclusive report from Deadline, Peter Dinklage will be joining the second season of Alien: Earth. The Emmy winner is best known for his performance as Tyrion Lannister in HBO’s Game of Thrones. Dinklage has played supporting roles in television series before, such as in the 2003 series Nip/Tuck and, more recently, in the Ethan Hawke-led series The Lowdown, both of them being cameo roles. Moreover, each of those roles was on the FX Network, showing that the actor is no stranger to working in similar productions. Deadline’s report also states that Dinklage’s character is being kept under wraps, as there is no information about who he is playing. Dinklage will be joining the lead of Season 1, Sydney Chandler, who played the humanoid robot Wendy. Her evolution as a new kind of human was the primary focus of the first season, along with her strange connection to the xenomorph.

Prime Video

Alien: Earth took full advantage of its unique setting (when compared to the Alien films) by highlighting how many corporations dominate and control almost every facet of life on Earth. With corporate greed being one of the core themes of the series, it might be interesting to see Dinklage portray a major player in one of the existing corporations, whether that be Weyland-Yutani or Prodigy Corporation. However, given how we’ve already seen the inner workings of these two in great detail in the first season, it would be unsurprising if Dinklage instead plays a part in one of the other companies that are name-dropped, such as Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold.

One of the strongest aspects of Alien: Earth was the incredible performances that helped drive the show, from actors portraying humans, synthetics, and hybrids. Hawley’s engrossing premise for the show somewhat put the xenomorphs on the back burner, but with the unexpected developments in the Season 1 finale, there should be more xeno action in Season 2. With Dinklage part of the cast, the powerhouse performances shouldn’t let up and instead only get more engaging. Add to that Hawley’s signature secrecy that he has had with most projects, and Alien: Earth season 2 is being set up as an exciting season of television to look forward to. Production is set to begin in May at Pinewood Studios in London (where many Alien films have been made), so the next season could release as early as 2027.
