Clint Eastwood Retirement Clarified Further By Son Scott Eastwood
Jun 10, 2026
Clint Eastwood may not have hung up his hat after all. After Juror #2 (2024) was rumored to be his last movie, earlier this month, his son, Kyle Eastwood, made comments seemingly confirming Clint Eastwood’s retirement from filmmaking, saying, “I have many fond memories of working with him. Now he’s retired, he’s 95 years old.” However, the legendary director and actor has not officially announced his retirement. Now, in an interview with ScreenRant’s Liam Crowley for Lucky Strike, his other son, Scott Eastwood, was asked to clarify his brother Kyle’s comments about Clint’s retirement, saying that he has not heard that directly from his father. He went on to praise his career and say that his work continues to inspire him. Read his full comments below:
We’ll see. I have not heard that from his mouth at all. So I don’t know what that feels like. His career in general has been something to admire, something to be inspired by, and continues to inspire me. The work, the artistry that he’s done on and off screen. Producing, writing, composing, directing, acting. The body of work is incredible.
Rod Lurie – who directed the new World War II movie Lucky Strike starring Scott Eastwood, Colin Hanks, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and Taylor John Smith – also praised Clint Eastwood’s incredible career, especially his ability to continue working into his old age:
What your dad has done for all of us, and I’m not talking just about directors, but has shown what we are capable of doing as human beings into a very late age. And when I look at people like Clint Eastwood or some other directors, we’re amazed when they directed into their 80s, it makes you just want to continue to accomplish. Juror No. 6, his last movie, is pretty masterful, especially for somebody of that age. And it’s really just something to behold. Your dad should be on the Mount Rushmore of Hollywood.
Clint Eastwood recently turned 96 years old on May 31, and recent remarks from his son, jazz musician Kyle Eastwood, seemingly confirmed that his father has officially retired. “I have many fond memories of working with him,” Kyle Eastwood said to a crowd during a concert in Amiens, France. “Now he’s retired, he’s 95 years old. But I was very lucky to be able to work with him on quite a few films. It was a great experience for me.” However, according to Scott Eastwood, their father’s retirement is not definitive, or at least he has not heard him say so.
