Jon Bernthal Netflix Thriller Crowned One of 2026’s Biggest Streaming Shows

Aug 7, 2026

Jon Bernthal is on a serious hot streak right now, with the actor (alongside fellow MCU star Tom Holland) starring in not one, but two of the biggest box office hits of the year in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and Marvel sequel Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Both of which have quickly smashed records as they climb over the $1 billion mark, and while you’d think that’d be more than enough to satisfy Mr. Bernthal, it’s not, with the actor’s 2026 crime thriller Netflix series having also found massive success and being crowned one of the biggest shows on streaming.
There Are Two Sides to Every Story…

The recent mystery thriller series takes the old adage of there being two sides to every story and pushes it into all manner of twists and turns as Bernthal shares the screen with yet another MCU co-star: Thor: Ragnarok’s Tessa Thompson. Adapting the 2020 Alice Feeney novel of the same name, the series is His & Hers, and stars Thompson as Anna, who, while living as a recluse after leaving her friends and career as a news anchor behind, is captivated by a haunting murder in her sleepy hometown. Leading the series alongside her is Bernthal, who plays Jack, a sheriff’s office detective who happens to be Anna’s estranged husband. After losing his last job due to the stress caused by his and Anna’s past, he has also now returned to the sleepy town, and quickly becomes suspicious of Anna’s obsessive interest in the killing. The six-episode miniseries debuted on Netflix back in January and was met with solid reviews upon release. Proving to be an easy and intense binge-watch, His & Hers scored 71% on Rotten Tomatoes, with both critics and audiences praising the performances from both Thompson and Bernthal, while taking some issues with the “twisty, far-fetched premise.”
Jon Bernthal Is on a Big & Small Screen Hot Streak

While some may have balked at the pulpy nature of His & Hers, that hasn’t stopped the series from finding massive success on Netflix since its debut. According to the latest data from Nielsen, His & Hers is now one of the biggest streaming shows of the year, with the crime thriller landing in the top 10 alongside the likes of Prime Video’s Fallout and The Boys, and the Netflix shows The Night Agent, The Lincoln Lawyer, and Stranger Things.

Thanks to his fan-favorite performance as The Punisher, a role he plays for the first time on the big-screen in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and his role in the sweeping blockbuster epic The Odyssey, Jon Bernthal is clearly so hot right now, and it’s truly exciting to see where he goes from here. No doubt he’ll be eager to tell someone something.
