Paramount has released a brand-new trailer for Brad Pitt’s upcoming thriller Heart of the Beast. A first look at the survival film was initially shown at CinemaCon back in April before the first trailer was publicly released two months ago, teasing Pitt’s character James Belmont’s terrifying journey in the wilderness. Heart of the Beast will arrive in theaters on September 25, the same weekend as DreamWorks’ Forgotten Island and Robert Pattinson’s Primetime. Now, with just over a month to go until its theatrical release, Paramount has shared the second trailer for Heart of the Beast, which gives moviegoers another gripping look at director David Ayer’s latest big-screen project. After Belmont’s plane crashes in the middle of nowhere, he and his combat dog are forced to survive in Alaska, with the odds seemingly stacked against them. Check out the trailer below:

The Heart of the Beast trailer begins by showing the bond between Special Forces officer James Belmont and dog Odin, who’s a “highly trained combat K-9.” Like human soldiers, Odin has been in the thick of war and witnessed horrific violence and hardships. Belmont wants him to finally experience some peace in his life, so the two fly out into the Alaskan wilderness. Peace will have to wait, though, because the plane crashes in the water. Odin’s training kicks in, and the dog drags Belmont to the shore. Belmont looks over a map to see how far away they are from any civilization, realizing that “no one’s coming for us.” The officer and combat dog are each other’s protectors, and they’re each ready to save the other from whatever animal attacks or weather conditions they encounter. At one point, Belmont crosses a downed tree acting as a bridge. Odin, who has a brace around one of his front legs, is very hesitant but trusts his owner. They slip from the tree, but Belmont saves the dog and falls into the raging river below. Odin springs into action once again, and the trailer ends with Belmont promising Odin, “I’ll get you home.”

Heart of the Beast is Ayer’s latest project after directing such movies as Fury, Suicide Squad and The Beekeeper, and writing the scripts for Training Day and The Fast and the Furious. He’s also a producer with Pitt, Olivia Hamilton and Marty Bowen. Cameron Alexander wrote the screenplay. Heart of the Beast marks a reunion between Ayer and Pitt, who worked together on 2014’s Fury, a World War II film that is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a critic score of 75% and an audience score of 84%. At the box office, it grossed $211.8 million and then went on to earn nominations at the SAG Awards, Critics’ Choice Awards, and People’s Choice Awards. Before Fury, Pitt was known for movies like Thelma & Louise, Interview with the Vampire, Se7en, Fight Club, the Ocean’s franchise, Troy, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Inglourious Basterds and 12 Years a Slave.

Last year, the award-winning actor starred in the Formula One drama F1, which grossed $634.1 million, earned rave reviews from critics and audiences alike, and won an Oscar. Now Pitt is heading back to the big screen in the survival thriller Heart of the Beast, which also stars J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe. Heart of the Beast will be released in theaters on Friday, September 25, 2026.
