Dec 8, 2022

The sequel will follow Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) to Greece as he attempts to solve yet another mystery. This edition is just as star-filled as the first with Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, and Madelyn Cline on board. Kate Hudson and Dave Bautista are also in the cast but, for those looking for clues, feature “with” credits. It is not expected that any of the actors from the first film will return for this installment besides Craig.
The original “Knives Out” was released by Lionsgate and grossed $311.4 million worldwide. Netflix is distributing “Glass Onion” and a third installment. It is still unclear whether Netflix will release in theaters before streaming in a manner that will allow for box office grosses to be tabulated publicly or not. It is expected to debut, however, during the holiday moviegoing season.
“Glass Onion” is the first of a number of potential Netflix titles expected to hit the fall festival circuit including Alejandro González Iñárritu’s “Bardo,” Noah Baumbach’s “White Noise,” Sebastián Lelio’s “The Wonder,” Andrew Dominik’s “Blonde,” Roman Gavra’s “Athena” and Scott Cooper’s “The Pale Blue Eye.”
The Venice Film Festival will announce its titles in the next few weeks. The New York Film Festival will follow. The Telluride Film Festival slate is a mostly easy-to-figure-out guessing game officially confirmed a day or two before it begins.
TIFF returns for its 2022 from Thursday, September 8 to Sunday, September 18. Additional selections will be announced in the weeks to come.
Netflix has given no official release date for “Glass Onion” at this time.
