According to Max, Aaron Pierre has landed the role of John Stewart in the upcoming superhero drama series, “Lanterns.” It was recently revealed that Pierre was one of a couple of actors who were leading the race to land the role. Apparently, the actor beat out Stephan James for the role. Now, Pierre will star alongside previously announced Kyle Chandler in “Lanterns.”
Here’s the synopsis for the series:
The series follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.
Pierre is probably best known for the aforementioned “Rebel Ridge.” Previously, he starred in the series “Genius: MLK/X” where he played Malcolm X. On TV, he also starred in the acclaimed limited series, “The Underground Railroad.” Over on film, he’s set to voice Mufasa in the upcoming “Lion King” sequel for Disney. He also appeared in films such as “Foe” and “Brother.”
