Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah Say ‘Ms. Marvel’ Season 2 Decision Is On Hold Until After ‘The Marvels’
Sep 12, 2023
When people think of Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah’s superhero work, they probably think of the “Batgirl” situation. But really, the filmmaking duo started working on superhero stuff well before then, as the directors of episodes of the acclaimed Marvel Studios series, “Ms. Marvel.” And since Iman Vellani’s popular character is set to return in the upcoming film, “The Marvels,” folks are starting to wonder if we’ll ever get a Season 2 of “Ms. Marvel.” Well, El Arbi and Fallah are wondering about that, also.

During an upcoming interview as part of The Playlist’s “The Discourse” podcast (full episode coming soon), Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah talked about the current status of “Ms. Marvel” Season 2 and whether or not the duo will return to the MCU anytime soon. The short answer is simple – stay tuned.
“No, we’re waiting for ‘The Marvels,’ so that will decide what the next step will be,” said El Arbi. “So we’re very much looking forward to that. I can’t wait to see it, man. It’s great to see the trailers and to see the whole family back there and Iman Vellani doing great work, so looking forward to that.”
As mentioned, “The Marvels” is the next big MCU film and is set to star Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel alongside Teyonah Parris and Brie Larson. It serves as a sequel to, not only “Ms. Marvel,” but also “WandaVision” and “Captain Marvel.” Apparently, we’ll have to wait and see where “The Marvels” leaves Vellani’s character before we know what the future holds for a second season.

But even if “Ms. Marvel” doesn’t get a Season 2, it appears El Arbi and Fallah are definitely interested in working with Marvel Studios on future projects. Hell, they even have some potential franchises they’d like to take a stab at.
“Well, you know, if they ask us to come back to ‘Ms. Marvel,’ we love the universe, we love those characters, and Iman, and all of the other supporting actors there, so it would be an honor to come back and explore some more,” said El Arbi. “There is a Moroccan superhero we forgot to name that exists, so we can go there. And, you know, we love ‘Blade.’ Our buddy Yann Demange is now doing ‘Blade.’ If Yann doesn’t want to do the second movie, we’re still there. And ‘Deadpool’ – we’re always there for ‘Deadpool.’ If there’s a fourth one, we’re also game, so if they call us, we’re good.”
Clearly, these are filmmakers who are excited about working on big superhero films, even after the situation regarding “Batgirl.” So, it’ll be interesting to see what happens next and whether or not El Arbi and Fallah return to the MCU. In the meantime, you can check out their newest film, “Rebel,” when it hits select theaters on September 15.
