Alan Ritchson Wants His Tiny ‘Reacher’ Phone to Dominate the Internet

Mar 17, 2025

Fans of Prime Video’s Reacher

are well accustomed to Jack Reacher’s colossal stature and Alan Ritchson’s

imposing on-screen presence. Yet the actor recently hinted that one moment in Season 3 might overshadow even his trademark fistfights and deadpan one-liners. Ritchson wants viewers to turn a particular scene—where he tries using a hilariously minuscule phone—into the internet’s next viral meme.
For those who have no idea what this means, then you need to check out Season 3 of Reacher on Prime Video to discover the root of this meme-worthy moment. Ritchson has been teasing moments from Season 3 as the new episodes begin to roll out, and one of those teases involved him using a “tiny phone,” which Ritchson claims makes him look like he is holding a child’s toy. The man-mountain explained to UPI:

“They mailed the phone to my house, way before I got to town to start shooting the show, just to see what it looked like with me holding it up to my head. It’s a tiny phone and, so, every time I pulled it out of the shoe, I’d have an entire scene where I’m having some intense conversation through the phone. I felt a little ridiculous and I’m just sort of hoping and praying people will make memes of me.”

‘Reacher’ Has Made a Huge Impact Again on Prime Video

While his phone may be tiny, Reacher’s presence on Prime Video is anything but. The show was already charting high on the streamer’s most watched program list prior to the new season’s arrival, and as soon as Season 3 dropped, it easily muscled into the No.1 spot.
Viewership may be everything when it comes to the success of streaming shows, but having strong reviews can certainly help ease things along. Season 3 debuted with a perfect 100% score last week, and now it continues to hold an incredibly strong 97%. Audiences are still not as enamored with the show as they were with its 2022 debut (which scored 91%) but the new season has maintained the 76% score of Season 2.
While Ritchson may be looking forward to as many memes as he can get, there is obviously a lot more to Reacher. Season 3 proves that Ritchson’s frequently mentioned desire to play Jack Reacher for many years to come is almost as guaranteed as anything can be in the world of television. The show is one of the biggest hits in Prime Video’s library and considering that library also includes the multi-million-dollar Rings of Power and The Boys, Reacher seems to be in very good company.
While Season 3 still has plenty of episodes to go, fans, and author Lee Child, are already looking at which book could be adapted into Season 4. Child recently shared that he would like to see his 22nd Reacher novel, The Midnight Line, be the next story to make it to screens. He said, “I’m addicted to numerous things myself, and so I wanted to show it from the addicts’ point of view – make it sympathetic, make it human – and I’m proud of that book. I wonder if it will ever get made. We have to see whether we ever choose that one, but I’d love to see how it comes out.”
