Best Actress In A Limited Series Emmys 2023 Predictions

Apr 7, 2023

There is only one stone-cold lock for a nomination in this year’s Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category. That would be for Jessica Chastain‘s SAG Award-winning turn as Tammy Wynette in “George and Tammy.” After that, well, this is one Emmy race that gets very interesting, very quickly.

Chastain could be joined by fellow SAG Award nominee Emily Blunt for her work in “The English” and fellow Oscar-winner Rachel Weisz who does double in an addictive new version of “Dead Ringers.” After those three, Riley Keogh has a shot for “Daisy Jones and the Six” (which is a bit of a hit on Prime Video and two-time Emmy nominee Kathryn Hahn will deservedly earn some attention for “Tiny Beautiful Things.” Then the question is whether voters remember another two-time nominee, Vera Farmiga, who starred in “Five Days at Memorial” last summer (eons ago), or Lizzy Caplan from “Fleishman is in Trouble” this fall (or is she over-shadowed by her co-stars?).
This category traditionally has just five to six slots depending on the number of limited series and television movie submissions overall. Is there room for “Swarm’s” Dominique Fishback or “A Small Light’s” Bel Powley? Will anyone remember Amber Midthunder from “Prey”? Or will a less heralded performance steal a nod? Ponder.
