After runaway success of Prime Video‘s “Fallout,” the TV landscape is Ella Purnell‘s to conquer. And the English actress aims to do just that with her latest star vehicle, “Sweetpea.” Starz‘s new six-episode series stars Purnell as Rhiannon Lewis, a quiet wallflower who’s tired of being looked over and not paid attention to. Her solution? Murder, of course.

Based on C.J. Skuse’s cult novel of the same name, “Sweetpea” is a dark comedy about a woman finally finding her voice, albeit in one of the most sinister ways possible.  Here’s an official synopsis for the series, courtesy of Starz:
Rhiannon Lewis doesn’t make much of an impression – people walk past her in the street without a second glance. She’s continually overlooked for a promotion  at work, the guy she likes won’t commit, and her dad is really, really sick. Then everything in her life turns upside down. Rhiannon is pushed over the edge and loses control. Suddenly the wallflower is gone, and in its place is a young woman capable of anything… Rhiannon’s life transforms as she steps into a new, intoxicating power, but can she keep her killer secret?
Along with Purnell, “Sweetpea” also stars Nicôle Lecky, Jon Pointing, Calam Lynch, and Leah Harvey.  Jeremy Swift and Dustin Demri-Burns round out the main cast.
Ella Jones directs all six episodes of “Sweetpea,” with Kirstie Swain, Krissie Ducker, Laura Jayne Tunbridge, and Selina Lim adapting Skuse’s novel. Swain also executive produces the series with Purnell and Jones.  Manpreet Dosanjh executive prouces through Sky Studios. Executive producers through See-Saw Films include Helen Gregory, Iain Canning, and Emile Sherman.  Zorana Piggott serves as the show’s series producer.
Will “Sweetpea” be one of Fall TV’s big hits and another star-making turn for Ella Purnell? Find out when the series premieres on Starz on October 10. Watch a trailer for “Sweetpea” below.
