Rahul Kohli confirms that he did try out for Reed Richards in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for The Fantastic Four movie. The MCU movie timeline is finally getting ready to bring in Marvel’s First Family after Marvel Studios got The Fantastic Four character rights back. Production is currently set to start in the summer as the movie is being eyed for release in July 2025.

In a new interview with Salaam Nerds, Kohli seemingly opened up on how he was being considered for one of the main characters in The Fantastic Four cast, as many had imagined him as the perfect Mister Fantastic. However, as Pedro Pascal ended up landing the gig for Reed, Kohli shared the following:

Yeah, I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about it but I didn’t get it, is the important thing. But on good days, I see the Constantine. It will flare up once and again. And, I love all of them. On good days, you’re like, ‘Man, I’m wanted!’ People really want to see. You’re the guy that people will shout out for anything. On bad days, ‘It’s a reminder that you’re not the guy. You’re not there. These are the roles you’ll never get.’ So, it’s sweet and it’s perspective. It’s how you feel about yourself.

However, with
The Fantastic Four
set to become one of Marvel Studios’ major franchises going forward, the MCU was likely eying as many big names as possible.

As The Fantastic Four movie was announced, it didn’t take long for Kohli to get highly favored to play Reed in the MCU. Many MCU fans would start adding him to their fan casting lists for Mister Fantastic, with Kohli also resembling more recent versions of Reed in Marvel Comics. With his acting shining through TV shows like iZombie, Midnight Mass, and The Fall of the House of Usher, Kohli would have been a solid fit for Reed in The Fantastic Four.

However, with The Fantastic Four set to become one of Marvel Studios’ major franchises going forward, the MCU was likely eying as many big names as possible. Pascal’s career has expanded over the years with The Mandalorian and The Last of Us; Marvel Studios leaned more into the more recognizable stars for Reed, who is arguably one of the biggest heroes in the entire Marvel canon. Having Pascal attached to the MCU for several years is a major deal for Marvel Studios, especially once The Multiverse Saga is over.

Even if Kohli didn’t get cast in The Fantastic Four, there will hopefully be other big MCU opportunities for him as Marvel Studios continues to expand their franchise with new heroes. With someone as talented as Kohli, Marvel Studios would be lucky to grab him for a major superhero gig down the line.
