HBO’s Take On The Watergate Scandal With Woody Harrelson & Justin Theroux Premieres On May 1

Last year, the Starz limited series “Gaslit” took on Watergate and its complexities. In 2023, it’s HBO‘s turn to deliver its own series about the infamous political scandal, albeit from a slightly different angle.

“White House Plumbers” stars Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux as Watergate “masterminds” E. Howard Hunt and G. Gordon Liddy, who accidentally toppled the presidency there were zealously trying to protect.
Here’s a new synopsis for the series, courtesy of HBO:
WHITE HOUSE PLUMBERS takes the audience behind-the-scenes of the Watergate scandal as Nixon’s political saboteurs, E. Howard Hunt and G. Gordon Liddy, accidentally topple the presidency they were zealously trying to protect… and their families along with it. Chronicling actions on the ground, this satirical drama begins in 1971 when the White House hires Hunt and Liddy, former CIA and FBI, respectively, to investigate the Pentagon Papers leak. After failing upward, the unlikely pair lands on the Committee to Re-Elect the President, plotting several unbelievable covert ops – including bugging the Democratic National Committee offices at the Watergate complex. Proving that history can sometimes be stranger than fiction, WHITE HOUSE PLUMBERS sheds light on the lesser-known series of events that led to one of America’s greatest political crimes.
“White House Plumbers” boasts an ensemble cast that incluesDomhnall Gleeson, Lena Headey, Kiernan Shipka, and Ike Barinholtz. Other cast includes Judy Greer, Toby Huss, Kathleen Turner, Kim Coates, and Yul Vazquez.  F. Murray Abraham and John Carroll Lynch also star.  
Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck serve as creators and showrunners on “White House Plumber,” adapting Egil & Matthew Krogh‘s 2007 book “Integrity” for the limited series. “Veep” showrunner David Mandel directs all five episodes of “White House Plumbers.” Mandel, Gregory and Huyck also serve as co-executive producers on the series with Harrelson, Theroux, and more.
Initially set for a premiere this month, “White House Plumbers” now comes out on May 1, on HBO and HBO Max. Watch a new trailer for the limited series below.
