‘The Bad Batch’ Getting A Third Season From Lucasfilm/Disney+

Apr 10, 2023

Lucasfilm Animation is still churning out animated series set in the “Star Wars.” Even though landmark shows like “Stars Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars: Rebels” have ended, they’ve expanded the mythology and introducing fans to brand new characters that have made the jump to live-action. Their current efforts include anthology projects “Star Wars: Visions” and “Tales of The Jedi” covering various eras of the franchise alongside the episodic show “The Bad Batch.” The latter is in it’s second season that debuted earlier this year taking place after the events of “The Clone Wars” and there is a bit of an update of the streaming show’s future.

During Star Wars Celebration today, it’s finally been announced that “The Bad Batch” is getting a third season and will debut on Disney+ sometime next year. Sadly, it means the show will be ending as the third season will be it’s last one. Although, a transition to live-action incarnations wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibilities if characters survive their next round of adventures.
If you’re not familiar with the popular show, “The Bad Batch” refers to a rag-tag unit of clone troopers that are considered “rejects” from the cloning process making them dissentingly different in personalities/appearance than say other established troopers like Commander Cody or Captain Rex that had looked mostly identical. Disillusioned after the Empire took over The Republic and the Jedi purge conducted by their fellow clones via Palpatine’s Order 66, the group have left to go own their own missions.
The end of the Clone Wars marks the rise of the oppressive Empire. In the midst of the chaos, an elite unit of unusual clone troopers defies its orders and chooses to go on the run. Joined by a young clone named Omega, the so-called Bad Batch struggles to evade the constant pursuit of its enemies. ‘The Bad Batch’ follows the heroic Clone Force 99 — also known as the Bad Batch, a group of elite clones — in the aftermath of Order 66 and the rise of the Empire. The end of Season 2 saw the death of team member Tech and the capture of Omega — along with the revelation that she has a sister. How will the story end? Looks like we’ll find out next year.
You can stream season two episodes of “The Bad Batch” on Disney+.
