Comic book film fans have plenty to be excited about “in the next few months,” as insights into the DC Universe continue to unfold. The CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, reveals that he has caught a “glimpse” of what DC Studios CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran are cooking up for their highly anticipated DCU at Warner Bros. Discovery’s 2023 fourth quarter earnings call. Zaslav said (per ComicBook.com):

“I’ve had a glimpse into what James and Peter are doing, and it really does serve as an exciting indicator of where the new DC is headed under their leadership. There’ll be more you’ll hear from them in the months ahead. We’ll have James and Peter take you through in the next few months a full spectrum of what they see over the next 10 years.”

Zaslav’s thrilling revelation comes on the heels of Gunn, Safran and the cast of Superman: Legacy sitting down together for their first table read. Gunn released a photo of the gathering on his Instagram, which features David Corenswet (Superman/Clark Kent) with his arm around a bald Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor). Check out the image below:

Fans won’t have to wait long for more intriguing DCU updates, according to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, and the recent Superman: Legacy table read was only the beginning. However, there was another takeaway from the gathering of James Gunn, Peter Safran and the Legacy cast as they dove into the script together. And that delicious morsel is actress Isabela Merced’s — she portrays Hawkgirl in the film — name plate, which reveals the Superman Kingdom Come insignia.

Meanwhile, at the 2024 SAG Awards, Lois Lane herself, Rachel Brosnahan, was on hand as a nominee for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her incredible work in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. And Brosnahan described the first Superman: Legacy table read as “pretty amazing.” Brosnahan also told Variety:

“Some of us met for the first time. Some of us got to see each other again. It was amazing to hear the script out loud. As with all of these films, there’s a lot of action sequences and things. So, to hear the pacing of the film and to get to hear these characters occupied by the actors who play them is really fun. It’s also a great group. You can’t ask for more than that when doing something like this.”

Stay sharp because there are plenty more DCU updates coming over the next few months. And
Superman: Legacy
is slated to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
