New Dominique Thorne-Led Marvel Series Debuts June 24 On Disney+
May 14, 2025
With “Captain America: Brave New World” and “The New Avengers” (previously known as “Thunderbolts*”) in the rearview Marvel Studios is now focused on their subsequent superhero releases, which includes the VFX-heavy Disney+ series “Ironheart” a spinoff from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and produced by Ryan Coogler (“Sinners”) via his production shingle Proximity Media.
The latest high-profile Marvel series has landed a new trailer as “Ironheart” is set to debut next month on June 24. We’ll see Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams being frustrated with her situation as she ends up working with Marvel criminals like Anthony Ramos’ The Hood (has a supernatural origin) as her armored suit technology seemingly ends up in the wrong hands (a potential nod toward to the comic events of “Armor Wars”?).

Williams, of course, is a genius-level inventor as demonstrated in “Wakanda Forever,’ having the talent and ingenuity to craft her own robotic armor suit without the need of Stark-Tech and making Williams quite the rising, would-be hero in the MCU.
Comedic actor Sacha Baron Cohen is said to be playing a mysterious role in the show that many have alluded to as being the long-rumored demonic cosmic entity known as Mephisto (rumors going back to “WandaVision”), who happens to be the person who gives The Hood his powers in the comics. Mixing technology and the supernatural is quite interesting, if that is indeed Marvel’s plan here.
In the new series, we’ll also see a supporting cast featuring Alden Ehrenreich (“Solo: A Star Wars Story”) rumored to be playing the son of Jeff Bridges’ Obadiah Stane from “Iron Man,” Lyric Ross, Jim Rash, Cree Summer, and drag queen Shea Couleé.
Other MCU live-action shows coming in the future include “Wonder Man,” “Vision Quest,” a “Punisher Special Presentation,” and the second season of “Daredevil: Born Again,” which is currently filming in New York City. A “Nova” series had also been in development, focusing on the cosmic police force (introduced in “Guardians Of The Galaxy”) being resurrected by Richard Rider/Sam Alexander. Still, it looks to have been placed on hold for now.
