Rachel Brosnahan Tapped To Lead ‘Presumed Innocent’ Season 2 At Apple TV+
Jun 11, 2025
Rachel Brosnahan will be seen next in James Gunn‘s “Superman” reboot, but has lined up an exciting role on the Apple TV+ courtroom drama “Presumed Innocent,” as the actress will lead the second season, making her grand return to the small screen.
The exciting casting news comes to us from The Hollywood Reporter, as they add that the next season is said to be inspired by the Joe Murray legal thriller, “Dissection of A Murder.” That story follows “a young lawyer defending the accused killer of a well-respected judge,” which sounds like the perfect kind of story for the series.

David E. Kelley and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot are behind the show, with Brosnahan, likely best known for her stand-up period series “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” set to executive produce on the next season as the show is going with an anthology model.
Scott Turow’s novel was the source material for the first season, which starred Jake Gyllenhaal, who is still set to executive produce, but “Presumed Innocent” will move on to explore other characters/cases.
Here is the official logline for the Murray novel via publisher Pan Macmillan:
When Leila Reynolds is handed her first murder case, she’s shocked at how high-profile it is: the murder of a well-respected, well-known judge. This shouldn’t be the kind of case she’s leading; it’s way beyond her expertise. But the defendant, Jack Millman, is clear. He wants her, and only her. To make things worse, he’s refusing to talk. How is she supposed to prove herself on what appears to be an unwinnable case? Losing is not an option. She must find the most persuasive argument. Trials aren’t won by convincing judges or fellow barristers – they’re all about convincing a jury. Suddenly, Leila finds herself fighting not only to keep Jack out of prison, but also to keep her own secrets buried. It’s true what they say – there are two sides to every story. Guilty or not guilty? You decide.
