‘Spartacus’ Spinoff Drops a Revealing Red-Band Trailer Full of Slaughter and “Burning Desires”
Nov 1, 2025
The bloodiest and most seductive TV series in history is back, and if you thought the original Spartacus was full of carnage and flesh, you haven’t seen anything yet. The new uncensored red-band trailer for Spartacus: House of Ashur has just made its way online, and the spinoff promises to be filled with more action and desire than one can handle. The trailer (seen below) features all the fierce new players in Ashur’s (Nick E. Tarabay) world, including his battle-hardened gladiator trainer, Korris, (Graham McTavish), relentless gladiatrix Achillia, (Tenika Davis), and the ambitious Tarchon, (Jordi Webber). For the uninitiated, the series takes place in an alternate reality where Ashur was never killed, but instead takes command of the ludus which once commanded him. It’s a bold move by creator Steven S. DeKnight, but one that appears to have paid off if the trailer is any indication of things. Check out the full synopsis and trailer for Spartacus: House of Ashur below:
“Spartacus: House of Ashur is a thrilling, erotic and history-bending, roller-coaster experience that builds on everything which made the original series a colossal hit. What if Ashur had lived, and the Romans rewarded his treachery with the gladiator school where he once bled? Welcome to the House of Ashur. No longer a slave, Ashur has clawed his way to power, owning the same ludus that once owned him.
“But ruling a band of merciless gladiators is child’s play compared to surviving the savage world of Roman politics — a cutthroat game in which betrayal isn’t a sin, it’s currency. He flips tradition on its head by unleashing Achillia, a fierce and powerful gladiatrix eager to prove herself worthy in a man’s world. Together, they ignite a new kind of spectacle that shocks, disrupts and offends the elite with every drop of blood.”
When Does ‘Spartacus: House of Ashur’ Premiere on Starz?
Also starring Jamaica Vaughan (Home and Away) as Hilara, Ivana Baquero (Pan’s Labyrinth) as Messia, Claudia Black (Ahsoka) as Cossutia, India Shaw-Smith (Supernatural) as Viridia, and Leigh Gill (Game of Thrones) as Satyrus, Spartacus: House of Ashur is perhaps one of the most anticipated new series of the year. It’s already drawn attention for featuring a gladiatrix, which not everyone has been receptive to. As a result, some are already refusing to watch the new series, deeming it “woke” in their eyes. For those that are more emotionally mature and ready to dive back into the world of Spartacus, the fun begins on Starz on Friday, December 5, 2025, with a two-episode premiere. The remaining eight episodes will air weekly thereafter on both the Starz app and all Starz streaming and on-demand platforms. If you want to catch up on things before then, all three seasons of Spartacus, plus the prequel miniseries, Gods of the Arena, are available to stream now on both Starz and Netflix.
