Deadpool & Wolverine Star To Join Dave Bautista & Jason Momoa In Upcoming Action Comedy
Sep 5, 2024
Deadpool & Wolverine’s Morena Baccarin has joined the cast of The Wrecking Crew. In addition to Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa, the cast of the upcoming action comedy film also includes Star Wars’ Jango and Boba Fett actor Temuera Morrison, and Jacob Batalon, who played Peter Parker’s best friend, Ned Leeds, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Wrecking Crew is directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, who previously directed DC’s Blue Beetle.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Baccarin is the latest addition to The Wrecking Crew, which revolves around two contentious half-brothers having to work together after their father’s mysterious murder in Hawaii. The first brother (Momoa) is an erratic police officer, whose girlfriend (Baccarin), is fed up with his behavior, and the second brother (Bautista) is a straight-laced Navy SEAL. The script is written by Jonathan Tropper, who wrote Netflix’s The Adam Project, and production is set to begin this October in New Zealand.
The Wrecking Crew’s Cast Is The Ultimate Marvel & DC Crossover
It’s Almost Too Good To Be True
Bautista and Momoa playing two brothers who could not be more different from each other is promising, as is the intriguing story of their characters trying to solve their father’s murder. What is even more promising is the film’s cast, featuring an impressive combination of Marvel and DC stars. As Guardians of the Galaxy’s Drax, the Deadpool franchise’s Vanessa Carlysle, and the Spider-Man trilogy’s Ned, Bautista, Baccarin, and Batalon represent many of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s best series.
With Marvel and DC being their own separate entities, this may be the closest the entertainment industry can get to a crossover between the superhero universes.
DC is, of course, represented by Aquaman’s Momoa and behind the camera with Blue Beetle’s Soto. Morrison represents DC as well, as he has not only starred in numerous Star Wars films and television series, but played Aquaman’s father, Tom Curry, in Aquaman, The Flash, and Aquaman and the Last Kingdom. Baccarin has her own DC credits, too, having played Leslie Thompkins in all five seasons of Gotham. Momoa and Morrison have shared the screen together before, but it will be thrilling to see them now creating a new story alongside several Marvel stars.
While The Wrecking Crew’s story has nothing to do with the Marvel or DC universe, the star-studded cast will help generate more interest in the action comedy film. With Marvel and DC being their own separate entities, this may be the closest the entertainment industry can get to a crossover between the superhero universes. The cast members have helped past Marvel & DC films become box office hits, and may now be able to do the same with The Wrecking Crew as well.
