Fantastic Four Rumors Claim Galactus Is the Main Villain, Invisible Woman Is the Lead & More
Oct 7, 2023
Summary
Marvel is looking for a Latino actor to play Galactus, the main villain in the Fantastic Four reboot. The possibility of The Silver Surfer making an appearance in the film is high, with Ebon Moss-Bachrach potentially portraying the character. Doctor Doom will also make an appearance, but will not have a major role in the movie.
Further Fantastic Four rumors have emerged alongside the recent casting reports, with known scooper Jeff Sneider revealing that Marvel is looking for a Latino actor to portray the planet devouring cosmic entity and archenemy of the Fantastic Four, Galactus. And that The Mask of Zorro and Desperado star Antonio Banderas has been offered the role of the purple helmet-wearing supervillain. Not only that, he also reveals on the latest episode of The Hot Mic that Galactus will be the main villain in the Fantastic Four reboot.
“The main villain is Galactus, and I’m told that Galactus will be Latino,” Sneider told fellow scopper John Rocha during the episode. The addition of Galactus to the MCU will no doubt have many wondering whether this means we will see another iteration of the beloved character The Silver Surfer on the big screen. And Sneider thinks that, not only is this possible, but he could be set to be portrayed by The Bear star Ebon Moss-Bachrach. “But here’s the possibility that I think that that exists with Ebon Moss-Bachrach okay what if he’s playing Silver Surfer?” Sneider says regarding further casting rumors. “I think that that is perhaps more likely.”
Thanks to 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, we have seen both Galactus and The Silver Surfer in live action on the big screen. Here’s hopign things work out better this time around.
As well as Galactus, Sneider also revealed that Doctor Doom will make an appearance (another potential role for Moss-Bachrach), but that the villain will not play a major part. “But I, you know, do I think it’s possible Ebon Moss-Bachrach could be cast as Dr Doom,” Sneider added. “Um, but he’s only in you know in like the last at the end of the movie basically.”
These details come alongside further rumors from insider DanielRPK, who recently claimed that Susan Storm, aka The Invisible Woman will be the lead character in Fantastic Four. At present, none of this has been officially confirmed.

Vanessa Kirby Now “95%” Likely to Play the Invisible Woman
Paramount Pictures/Marvel Comics
Alongside the casting rumors that are now floating around (which include Joseph Quinn and not Jack Quaid as Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch), its looking likely that the Fantastic Four reboot will be led by Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One star Vanessa Kirby as Susan Storm, aka The Invisible Woman.
Kirby has been one of the main contenders for the role of The Invisible Woman for some time, with the actress’ name often being joined by the likes of Killing Eve star Emmy Award winner Jodie Comer and Barbie and The Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie.
For her part, Kirby has expressed her gratitude over being considered for the role in Fantastic Four, calling it an “honor”. “It would be an honor, it would be an honor to play Sue Storm,” Kirby said when asked about the potential of joining the MCU. “She’s amazing, so it would be a complete honor.”
Fantastic Four is all set to be helmed by WandaVision director Matt Shakman, who will work from a script written Jeff Kaplan, Ian Springer and Josh Friedman. Fantastic Four is currently scheduled for release on May 2, 2025, and will come as part of Phase Six of the MCU alongside Avengers sequels Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
