Wait, isn’t that synopsis “Friends“? Well, maybe “Adults” is the multi-cultural, millennial, 2020s version of the classic NBC hit, and it premieres on FX and Hulu later this month.
Here’s an official synopsis for “Adults,” courtesy of FX:
FX’s “Adults” is an ensemble comedy series about a group of twenty-somethings in New York trying to be good people, despite being neither “good” nor “people” yet. Samir, Billie, Paul Baker, Issa, and Anton are five friends crashing together in Samir’s childhood home, where they share their meals, anxieties and, occasionally, toothbrushes. Whether they’re trying to get ahead at work, navigating the healthcare system, hosting a dinner party, or dating in the age of Find My Friends, the group is finding that nothing about the real world is simple, and all their best intentions tend to make things worse.
“Adults” stars Malik Elessal, Lucy Freyer, Jack Innanen, Amita Rao, and Owen Thiele. Guest stars this season include Julia Fox, Charlie Cox, and Ray Nicholson, as well as D’Arcy Carden, Grace Kuhlenschmidt, and John Reynolds.
Ben Kronengold & Rebecca Shaw create “Adults.” They also serve as executive producers on the show with Nick Kroll, Steafnie Robinson, Sarah Naftalis, and Jonathan Krisel. Alicia Van Couvering also serves as an executive producer through Kroll’s Good At Business banner.
The first two episodes of “Adults” premiere on FX on May 28, with the entire eight-episode series available to stream on Hulu the next day. Watch a trailer for the new comedy below.
