Josh Holloway Stars In J.J. Abrams ‘70s-Set Getaway Driver Crime Thriller Coming To Max In May

J.J. Abrams’ mega-deal with HBO and Max, rumored to be north of $300 million didn’t amount to much—certainly none of the DC Comics content he had planned—but one show that did come out of that initial deal was the ‘70s getaway car driver crime thriller “Duster” re-teaming Abrams with “Lost” star Josh Holloway.

Max has now released the official trailer for ‘”Duster,” which was co-created by Abrams and co-showrunner LaToya Morgan, debuting Thursday, May 15 at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT on MAX. The eight-episode season, produced in association with Warner Bros. Television, will debut new episodes weekly through July 3.
Here’s the official synopsis courtesy of HBO:
Set in the 1970s Southwest, “Duster” explores the life of a gutsy getaway driver for a growing crime syndicate that goes from dangerous to wildly, stupidly dangerous when a tenacious young agent comes into town hellbent on taking his crime family down.
 
Others appearing alongside Holloway in the new show are Rachel Hilson, Keith David, Sydney Elisabeth, Greg Grunberg, Camille Guaty, Asivak Koostachin, Adriana Aluna Martinez, and Benjamin Charles Watson.

The first two episodes are written by Abrams and Morgan and are directed by Steph Green. A producing team features Abrams and Rachel Rusch Rich at Bad Robot, with Morgan for TinkerToy Productions, and Green as well.
