Latest MCU Series Produced By Ryan Coogler Sees Technology Battle Magic On June 24

Jun 9, 2025

Marvel Studios‘ next big project, coming to Disney+ on June 24 as the 3-episode premiere of “Ironheart,” should be something extra special. As the new show featuring Dominique Thorne‘s whiz-kid Riri Williams is a “Black Panther” spinoff produced by franchise overseer Ryan Coogler.

The studio has sent us a second trailer for “Ironheart,” showcasing the battle between advanced technology against magic (science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke once said advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic) as a desperate Williams gets entangled with Anthony Ramos‘ The Hood, a Marvel criminal who is granted magic powers and uses them to commit criminal acts, promising to help her profit from her amazing engineering skills.

An official logline from Marvel Studios:

Set after the events of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” Marvel Television’s “Ironheart” pits technology against magic when Riri Williams (Thorne), determined to make her mark on the world, returns to her hometown of Chicago. Her unique take on building iron suits is brilliant, but in pursuit of her ambitions, she finds herself wrapped up with the mysterious yet charming Parker Robbins, aka “The Hood” (Ramos).

The rest of the actors among the cast include Lyric Ross, Alden Ehrenreich, Regan Aliyah, Manny Montana, Matthew Elam, and Anji White.

We’ll have to wait and see if the events of “Ironheart” will impact things like Don Cheadle‘s solo War Machine movie, “Armor Wars,” as that feels like the perfect entry point to bring Williams back to the feature films, as the comic book featured Stark-tech reaching the black market. Then again, we’re already seeing artificial intelligence returning in “Vision,” which could have parallel themes and storylines.
