Lisa Marie Presley Posthumous Memoir to Release in October – The Hollywood Reporter

Jan 13, 2024

A posthumous memoir from Lisa Marie Presley will be published by Random House, it was announced Thursday.

Random House, an imprint of the Random House Publishing Group, a division of Penguin Random House LLC, will publish the memoir in collaboration with Presley’s daughter actress Riley Keough.

“This raw, riveting, one-of-a-kind memoir will lift the veil on one of America’s most storied families, sharing intimate memories of Lisa Marie’s remarkable, tumultuous life while offering a poignant exploration of the bonds between a mother and daughter,” Random House said of the book.

Random House notes that prior to her death in 2023, Presley had asked Keough to help her finish her long-gestating memoir. After Presley’s unexpected death, Keough listened to tapes her mother had recorded for the book which included stories about Graceland, her relationship with her mother, Priscilla Presley, life in the public eye, marriages to Michael Jackson and Nicolas Cage and the loss of her son, Riley’s brother Benjamin Keough.

Keough said in a statement, “Few people had the opportunity to know who my mom really was, other than being Elvis’s daughter. I was lucky to have had that opportunity and working on preparing her autobiography for publication has been a privilege, albeit a bittersweet one. I’m so excited to share my mom now, at her most vulnerable and most honest, and in doing so, I do hope that readers come to love my mom as much as I did.”

“We are so honored to publish Lisa Marie’s memoir with Riley’s thoughtful collaboration,” said Sanyu Dillon, president of the Random House Group . “Lisa Marie led a truly singular life, and we know this book, brought to publication with the guidance of her daughter, will be a beautiful legacy not only for her children, but for the generations of people who have loved her.”

North American publishing rights were acquired by vp and editor-in-chief Ben Greenberg from CAA.

Keough will narrate an audiobook edition, which will be released simultaneously by Penguin Random House Audio.

The as-yet-to-be-titled memoir will be published Oct. 15.
