The Life Of Chuck Images Reveals Proper Looks At Tom Hiddleston In Mike Flanagan’s New Stephen King Movie
Sep 3, 2024
The first-look images of The Life of Chuck have been revealed. Based on the Stephen King story, The Life of Chuck is an upcoming Mike Flanagan film that crafts the tale of a man named Chuck and the end of his life. The Life of Chuck film adaptation features a leading cast including Tom Hiddleston, Jacob Tremblay, Mark Hamill, Karen Gillan, Molly C. Quinn, Kate Siegel, Michael Trucco, David Dastmalchian, and Matthew Lillard.
Now, Vanity Fair has revealed the first images for The Life of Chuck.
The images show a look at Hiddleston in the role of Chuck as he is about to dance in a key sequence in the movie. In one image, director Flanagan is seen talking to Hiddleston on set. Flanagan is seen again in an image of him and his son Cody, who plays a younger version of the protagonist in The Life of Chuck. Other shots give glimpses of the chaos unfolding around the protagonists, including a shot of Chiwetel Ejiofor on a street of abandoned cars.
What These Images Say About The Life of Chuck’s Tone
The King Adaptation Is Not A Horror Movie

Before these latest looks at The Life of Chuck, the only image available was a teaser image of Charles Krantz. The image shows Chuck in what looks like an advertisement with text that reads “Charles Krantz. 39 Great Years. Thanks Chuck!” beside an image of a smiling Hiddleston. This glimpse of The Life of Chuck confirmed how Flanagan planned to execute a critical aspect of King’s book wherein characters begin to see Chuck’s face on billboards, advertisements, and more, with those words. This image can be viewed in two of the first-look photos, one behind Ejiofor and one behind Gillan.
Flanagan is known for directing horror, but has repeatedly reminded audiences that The Life of Chuck is not a horror film.
As Chuck is seen everywhere in The Life of Chuck, the world inside his mind begins to unravel. Part of this is witnessed in the new images. Ejiofor’s handshake occurs on a barren-looking street, and the cars in the image are abandoned once the world began to fall apart. He is shaking hands with Carl Lumbly who “plays a funeral director who has dedicated his life to easing people through death.” In another image, Gillan looks to be a part of a surrealist moment as her artistically-lit character sits in front of a poster of Chuck’s face.
Outside of the images in Chuck’s mind reveal more intimate moments. Cody Flanagan’s scene, for example, seems to take place in a kitchen, which is likely his grandparent’s house, where a supernatural scene will occur. Chuck’s grandfather, played by Hamill, is seen sitting at a desk in that same house. Flanagan is known for directing horror, but has repeatedly reminded audiences that The Life of Chuck is not a horror film. These first images seem to follow through with this genre promise, bending tone and genre to create a unique experience for The Life of Chuck.
