Marvel Studios’ “X-Men ‘97” was always expected to be popular. It’s obviously made to tickle the nostalgia bone of fans. According to Deadline, Matthew Chauncey has been hired to be the lead writer/showrunner of “X-Men ‘97” as the series enters production on its second season. Chauncey takes over for Beau DeMayo, after the latter was fired right before the premiere of the show. Fans have been worried that the change in writers for the new season will lead to a dip in quality. That said, Chauncey has already proven himself to be solid.

Before taking over “X-Men ‘97,” Chauncey was best known for working on Marvel’s other popular animated series, “What If…?” In addition to that, he also worked on the live-action series, “Ms. Marvel.” It’s clear Marvel Studios likes his work, as the studio keeps putting him on various projects.
Now, as mentioned above, there are going to be quite a few fans who are skeptical of this change, as the first season was so well-liked. We’ll just have to wait and see how much of a change is noticeable in the quality of the show.
“X-Men ‘97” is in the middle of production on Season 2 right now, and apparently, Season 3 is already in development.
